Dialing commercial phone numbers with words
I know this is a very picky point, but I still felt compelled to mention it.
There are TONS of commercial phone numbers out there which you know by the words, rather than the numbers (ie: 1-800-FLOWERS ; 1-800-MATTRES - leave off the last "s" for savings 😁 )
I was in the airport last week and I wanted to get my Wall Street Journal delivered to my hotel room for the next few days instead of my home address (they'll do that for you if you call 1-800-JOURNAL and request it)
Well - you should have seen me at the airport gate with my eyes closed trying to visualize the keys on the telephone and spelling "JOURNAL" on my Q.
It's really not a big deal - but I still think somebody at Motorola should have had the foresight to have put a sm...

Not picky. At least I don't think so. I went to call a business this morning and I got the standard "press # for a company directory, dial the last name..." Had to visualize a phone pad to know which number to hit for what letter. A small picture of a phone pad would be great.

I just posted a question about this very point. In my line of work, I call businesses with employee directories every day. This is the dumbest design flaw I’ve seen in a while. How can anyone expect to use this phone while thinking about important issues for call you are about to make, while at the same time recalling from memory that the #7 key is also P,Q,R,S. It’s ridiculous.
I’m sure the bright designers thought of this and there is a solution or function that accomplishes this. Now just let us know what that solution is and maybe make it clear in the instructions.
Or the bright designers forgot that most people who would use this type of device need this simple functionality without the added hassle of memorizing keypad num...

I just switched to the Q from a blackberry. On the BB you simply held down the ALT key while you pressed the letter. It would auto convert it to the right touch tone. I am going nuts trying to figure this out on the Q myself.

Someone should be able to hack this. Maybe somone on qusers will take it on.

Wow, what an oversight on Moto's part. I needed to call an airline the other day and was dumbfounded. My memory is not as good as your so picturing it will not help me. Luckily i do not need to use it as much as others but this can be a problem

The same thing happened to me recently. I was at home so I actually had to find my cordless and look at it to dial the number.
