Commission for Verizon Sales people...

Just wondering if anyone can confirm that the Q has to be initially sold with the voice/data plan and then Verizon may cancel out the data portion?

If your response is HUH? then we're on the same page.

I got my Q about a week ago a specifically told the salesperson I wanted only the voice plan on my Q and she told me there was no problem..she could do it. Well out of curiosity I called Verizon customer service over the weekend to get a detailed account of my bill and was told the data plan was included in my account and I would have to get in touch with the salesperson to have the charge credited back to me.

So I go back to the Verizon store and the lady tells me that is the way it's done. They have to initially sell the Q with the...

If you buy anything from the salesperson, and return it, they keep their commission.

So yes, there is a reason when they try to get you to buy everything.

They make money on nearly every phone, and every accessory, and plan add-on's they sell.

I work for an authorized retailer and as far as I know we don't requrire it to be sold with a data plan but verizon corporate does. I know this because I bought a Q from corporate. And as far as making commision off of a return we don't at a non corporate get commission off of that. In fact if anyone returns anything within 2 months they will take away the commission from us.

some partial truths here, lemme clarify

the price of $199 is with the data feature. you are not required to keep it but still get the $100 savings

you can buy it w/out the feature and pay $299 if you are retarded. and its a pain in the ass to get through the switch that way.

the data feature counts to the sales rep as a new activation, and when its canceled w/in 12 months, a deactivation. Read: Its a wash if you return it. If you keep it, bonus. We dont care.

You should have the feature anyways, Wireless Sync is amazing if you set it up right

Ok so just to clarify the situation...

I paid $299 for the phone, supposedly w/voice plan only. Now if I paid $299 isn't that clearly obvious I did not get the data plan?

Now the person who sold it to me seemed to take a while to look through her system to finally confirm I had no data plan and no charge for the data plan to my account. As a matter of fact, my account online indicates a credit to my balance of $44.95...so someone please explain to me why I should not believe this person was not trying to pull a fast one on me???

I recently left verizon. No you dont need the data package. However it does allow for the $100 credit. If you cancel right after you will still pay one month of data service so you end up with a net discount of about $55. One other problem is that verizon recently made alot of changes to their point of sale system and many employees do not know how to activate a PDA without first adding the data feature than taking it off after activation. Hope this helps.

I work for Verizon, and if the feature is removed within three months of bein added, it doesn't get paid commission. The reason she had to add the feature is a failsafe in the billing system. It will not allow you not to add data. You have to go back into the system and remove it from the back end. She has to add SOMETHING because people that buy the phone and don't get the data package have a pay per use feature that charges .005 for every kb used. We have had issues with customers that request no data feature, use data anyway, and beacause of the way the data sessions are set up on the device, get thousand dollar bills, and then get angry at us. Why would you want to buy a $300 data capable device, and then not get the data feature for it?...

Alright I understand your point but when asking a salesperson,a different one than the one I made my purchase with, general questions about phones and plans tells me flat out "When you hear the names of companies like Verizon or American Express, expect that they are looking for every way to get your money". And in all honesty I'm not making this up!

And with all due respect, when you say you're just trying to feed family, you kind of reiterate what that gentlemen said. It's true, we're all out to take care of our own and sometimes, SOME, not all, people do unethical things in order to do so.

is there a commission on a sale?

Yes, thats why people have sales jobs.

Can you get a pda without a data plan?

yes you can. you have three options.

1. unlimited
2. 10 MB
3 pay as you go.

Should you as a customer be allowed $100 off the equipment price when you remove the data feature after point of sale?

Answer= No

Should you as a sales person offer to a customer to take the phone with the $100 credit then remove it later?

Answer= No

If both customer and sales person work together with integrity then you wouldn't be so disappointed when you come into a sales environment.

If you came to me and told me that you saw on phonescoop that you wanted the Q for 199 without data and told me that you would take it...

I recently left verizon as an employee. You can activate this or any other PDA without adding a data package. If your manager cant figure it out have them call someone else. It will save you alot of headaches from angry customers.

Wrong....

Retail Sales Reps get chargebacks if you return anything. They DON'T keep their commission.

Call Customer Service and ask them to add the NationalAccess Blocked feature to your account. You will not incur ANY data charges if they do this, even if you try to. Your phone will simply not transmit data. That includes picture messages, though. No picture messaging if you do this.

I was in the same situation...wanted the phone as a PDA but not as a data transfer device. The NationalAccess block works perfectly for me.

HOWEVER, when you GET the Q, sign up for the unlimited data package with it. That will save you $100. Then go home, call customer service, and have them remove the unlimited data feature and add the Nati...
