How do I disable the Windows boot up sound
Get Resco registry editor and change the .wav file to *none*
...
or look at the thread started a few weeks ago and find out all you have to do is take a "nicer" .wav file and rename it to take the place of piano.wav in windows directory. You can rename the original to pianoold.wav or something like that so you don't lose it.
I didn't want to silence it altogether in case there was a problem with booting up, the sound would notify me whether it got past a certain point in the boot process.

You can disable the actual sound instead of just renaming a wav file, there are also loads of other hacks and tweaks, check out www.freewebs.com/smartq as there is a list of a lot of hacks and tweaks you can perform on the q - sut off the camera shutter sound, disable the txt message sent screen etc...check them out at www.freewebs.com/smartq

as this is phonescoop and not a more sophisticated site like brighthand I figured the "non-registry hacking" method would help more people over here.
