I tried to hook-up a Motorola Q with Alltel. They told me the phone would work but not the high speed internet. Is this true, or just BS?

No BS it will NOT work, ever. NO VZW data device will work on ALLTEL or ALLETL on VZW. This is the same with any CDMA carrier, only voice may work.
