Help needed to format External flash memory card

Does anyone have an idea how to format the flash card on Moto Q? your help appreciated

Unlike the v710 and other predecessors - there is no format required - just plug and play.

Thanks for the reply. I did a format thru my laptop. Infact I wanted to format coz I am not able to play any video's or music that I've saved on my flash card. Neither cud I read a simple text file from the memory card. An y throw on that??

not sure about reading .txt files.
I know the Q viewer supports Word (.doc); Excel (.xls) ; Adobe (.pdf) and Powerpoint (.ppt) - but I haven't tried anything other than that.

Do I install the microsoft office and acrobat to access the .pdf and office files or can I directly read them on the handset. Pls can you tell me how and where I can find the office files and .pdf files and read them. Thanks in advance for your response.

I found it. The File manager menu failed me by not showing me the "storage card" option, where I have all the files saved. it appeared all of a sudden. I can read a txt file as well which is stored in the storage card.
