Not sure if this will work...help...software Question

Alright Q Users, I have a good one here for you. I personally do not use a q, honestly have never sold one, or activated one. I have a customer who is interested in purchasing one based on the answer to this question that he posed to me. He is a locksmith and uses a program by the name of Genericode, the software is basically an excel spreadsheet in which he enters in a lock code and the corresponding code pops up. Now I know that the Q has "read only" versions of Microsoft word and excel, however if it is an integrated part of the software in which he will be putting on the phone...will he be able to enter and edit text into the spreadsheet/database? That is the big question. Any leads...help...or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Nop and yes. The Q comes with a viewer only. When you open the excel file it is like looking at a graphic or pdf. you can zoom in or out, move left or right.

Now there is a 3rd party software on Handango that may do what you want.

I hope this helps.

Im somewhat of a Excel power user and while I dont know for sure because I havent used the spreadsheet you speak of, Im going to guess that this locksmith spreadsheed does what it does with the help of Visual Basic code.

My previous phone was a Samsung I700 where I ran a full blown Pocket Excel which would NOT run an automated spreadsheet with VB code in it.

Having said that, Im fairly certain your customer will not be able to find a 3rd party application that will run this spreadsheet program on the Q for the reason Ive listed above...combined with the fact that there just arent that many apps written for the landscape qvga wm5 format (yet....cmon codeheads....you can do it! )
