Closing the Browser?
Can anyone share information as to how to close the browser after use without having to shut down the phone? There must be a simple procedure that I'm missing. Thanks very much!

I think most apps on the Q are not "closed" after they are opened. You simply hit the "home" key and cause them to go into the background. The reason is that there is no meaningful advantage to explicitly closing them, even if you could.
Although if I were trying to find a need to close an app like IE, it might be if the page it is viewing has an "expiration" set for a small number, such as every minute, and so the page keeps getting downloaded every minute endlessly, until your $24/month bandwith is consumed and exceeded.
However, something tells me that IE on the Q ignores the page expiration meta-data.

Task Manager will do it. I use it all the time when my phone starts to slow down. You can open Task Manager and kill the programs you are not using at the time. You can find it in Start > System Tools > Task Manager.
Sometimes it can help to assign that program a speed dial number that you might remember, I took the advice of someone else in this forum and assigned it speed dial number 86. As in "I'm going to 86 this program".
I also use a program called Facade which allows me to edit my home screen, see more of my appointments and tasks and also assign shortcuts to whatever programs I want. Task Manager is on my home screen.
Hope this helps.

I have the same question. I think what "fitness1" is trying to say is that the reason we need to close the browser, at least for some of us, is that we pay and have a plan w/limited data usage access 10MB (I think I pay $24.99/mo.) so we don't want to just hit "home" and have the browser always open and seeing the two arrows constantly in the upper right hand corner. I know that makes me nervous fearing some huge cell ph bill. For those with unlimited access, it can be open all day unless I'm not understanding how Verizon charges for usage (which could very well be being new to data usage). Can someone please clarify? Thanks.
