VZW deal on extended battery..

Hey y'all,

For all of you who already ordered the Q, I just thought I'd point out that VZW is offering the extended battery for $19.99 under "Buy Accessories" off your "My Account" page -- the (outrageous) list price is $59.99. I didn't do extensive research to compare prices (limited data, obviously), but it was significantly lower than the other sites I saw.

Just thought I'd give you guys a heads up. Still haven't received confirmation that my phone has shipped...grrrr...I hope to have it by Friday!

FYI...New at 2 Date is a "hard" Date

I was very disappointed, but not surprised given their reputation, that VZN did not allow me to exercise my "New at 2" option on a Q, eleven (11) days before my actual "new at 2" date! Since I've been a subscriber since the days of US West and Airtouch, I would be interested in hearing how that action supports VZN's definition of customer service.

Broadband Access versus National Access

Confused about these two different data plans, when upgrading my phone i get a choice of 79.99 for broadband access and unlimited data for 44.99. I also don't see a place to choose the voiceplan, like the 450 combo for 79.99 for unlimited data and 450 mins, any ideas?

Text Message Plan and Insurance

Is there a cheaper plan then 5 dollars for 250 text msgs. Also anyone think that insurance is worth it for Moto Q, or extended warranty is good enough

Q Phone Reception

Does anyone have any comments or opinions on the Q's actual phone reception compared to the treo? Does it have good signal strength and call reception?

I currently have a v710, if i buy the Q will i have to upgrade my plan for the 79 a month minimum? I understand this is nessecary to get the phone for $199, if i dont have to get it, how munch is the phone w/o the data plan.
I do not want to have data access for email and such, i just want to use the phone as a cell phone and pda.

Verizon Rep Confirmed DUN over Bluetooth

Can you believe it!? i'm a little in shock. See my below corrispondence with Verizon:

Dear (Name Removed)

Thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless through our website. I appreciate your inquiry regarding the Motorola Q. My name is Lee, and I am happy to assist you today. This handset will be capable of 'dial up networking' via bluetooth.

We provide three options to choose from for obtaining new service with us:

1. You may place orders online by clicking on the following link, www.verizonwireless.com/plans which will direct you to the "Plans" page of our website.

2. You may visit a local Verizon Wireless store in your area, where a sales representative will be happy to assist you. To obtain a list of stores in your area, ...

Help with Q/700w/700p etc choice...

Long time reader, first time poster...

I am also one of the v710 people and need to decide rather quickly. I understand in general the differences between the phones, but would like more input. I'm simply just growing tired of having multiple devices.

Having said that I would like a phone first and PDA type functions second. I am a heavy PDA user (Calendar, Contacts, Notes, etc.) but input almost all by hand to keep my personal life off of my work calendar. I do sync with Microsoft Outlook 2003 at home.

Any thoughts/suggestions? Heeeeeelp! 😳

FYI to V710 class action members

I emailed my contact with them about ordering the phone over the phone since the Q didn't show up on the exchange site and also that the pricing online is incorrect(you can't get the 100.00 data credit) this is what he replied with

Ordered mine, but what about overnight shipping??

I called B2B this morning, and the guy ordered the Q for me. Later he actually called back to say they wouldn't be able to until the 5th. I had to order on line.

Processing/shipping time was the whole reason I tried over the phone. So I go through the process, but had no option to expedite.

What gives? Any ideas on how I could push it?

Verizon Website says NO Voice Dialing

Why does the Verizon website say that this phone does NOT have voice dialing?? When you compare features with another phone it says no. Both this site and the motorola website say it IS a feature of the phone, so what gives? I'm hoping it's just a mistake.

If it is a mistake, does anyone know if there is voice dialing through bluetooth on this phone?

Push Email and Wireless Sync

I am hoping a Verizon rep or someone out there with knowledge can help me. Here is my situation, I currently have a Blackberry and use the Blackberry Webclient to push my POP3 email and use the automatic bcc function so that all emails that are sent from my Blackberry eventually end up in my Inbox in Outlook so I have a copy of all sent emails. It appears that you can set up Wireless Sync through some type of web-based client for a POP3 account and don't have to use the PC Monitor and leave a computer on. Does anyone know if there is a way to have sent emails either be automatically sent by bcc so that they end up in your Inbox or have the device when it syncs with the computer place sent emails in the Sent box? I don't care whether sent...

Ordered Upgrade but no voice option?? and also $299??

Anyone know why when I went through to upgrade my phone (with expired contract) to the Q. The only options I was able to select for plan was 1 yr, 2yr or no contract as well as the data plans. So I selected 2yr and unlimited data plan. It did not ask me to choose an actual voice plan. I currently have an old Family Share 1000 minute plan. But I thought I would have to change to a newer plan. The order went through and it never asked me about my voice. But it does say 2 yr contract extension.

Also it priced me at $299. I thought it was $199 with the data????

Got Mine...

Though not offically available I was able to get my hands on one tonight..

This thing is cool.
The screen is bright and clear. It fits nicely in your hand. The buttons are pronounced and firm.
The speaker phone is clear.
It has an easy to use interface.
I'm still getting to learn all the ins and outs of this thing, but so far so good.
Definitly a blackberry killer..

The only thing I would have added is a cover..
oh, it takes a while to turn on, too..

It fits nicely in your pocket.. I'm not going to use a case, just a screen protector.

No OBEX?

Is it just me, or was thing supposed to support all Bluetooth profiles? On the Verizon page it states that "It does not support all object exchange (OBEX) profiles."

Interestingly it doesn't say anything about not supporting DUN profiles.

Anybody know if this is a mistake? Can anyone with the phone confirm OBEX support?

Problem with Motorola Q

To use Motorola Q, you will need to use bluetooth device as well, because otherwise keyboard is exposed. Why they could not come up with the cover for keyboard.
What do you think?
