Will Cingular Cripple the W810i...
They market it as a music phone, but only if you buy optional accessories like an SD-micro card ($100 for 1GB), a USB cable and 2.5mm headphones. Out of the box, you can't even get ringtones to it without having to "trick" it (you have to rename an .mp3 to a .mid or .qcp, then send it as a piture mail to yourself. Has to be less than 325 Kb and it has to be the third Teusday of the month at exactly 3:23 pm.)
I knew Verizon crippled the bluetooth for file transfers, but I thought you could still PIM sync...nope. I couldn't help but laugh at my wife as she manually transferred all her numbers to her ne...

i think a phone that high in class wouldnt be dumbed down or nobody would buy it.
I expect this phone to be just like any other SE walkman phone. AWESOME!!! I can't wait to put my hands on this bad boy. 🤤
1. Can't us high quality, full length MP3s as ringtones.
2. Can't do OTA firmware update.
All things considered (especially price w/ new 2 year), not bad, but still makes me mildly happy I bought the unlocked version, despite how much I overpaid.
Guess you could just do a warranty exchange when new FW comes out...Of course you could also get a new car when you need an oil change. I just don't get why carriers diable that feature.

Or call Cingular switch to the update setting in the phone and have them send me a firmware update. Boom same thing; happen the other day.
