Sony Ericsson W810
Any word on the REAL release date!?
Hello everyone, I am new to this site and have been reading a few of the threads. My contract is over with Verizon and am now paying month-to-month. I was thinking of purchasing the Chocolate, but am really interested in the W810 by Sony Ericsson! I have to have this phone!
The only problem is at the time the only way to get it is to purchase unlocked from an online website or ebay (Wirless_Express). That's all well and good but, if I can wait till Cingular releases it with a contract it will be less expensive, correct?
So how long will I have to wait (if I can wait) for that to happen? 🤤

For what it is worth, someone has posted on the main Cingular forum on this site that it will be out on Sept 21.

I stopped into a cingular store today and a guy told me the same exact date.
Normally, im not too eager to believe the dates they give out (this phone has been delayed waaaaay too many times), but in light of someone else coming up with the same date....well, one can only hope.
Ps - i have the chocolate phone now (still in my 15 day worry-free guarantee phase) and i can tell im canceling my VZW contract and moving to cingular for this phone.

No one is awaiting the release of this phone more than me, as i can only pull the "this phone is broken, so i need a new one and a new 15 day trial period so i can eventually cancel your ass" so many times...
Lets just keep hoping. Im going to call the dude at cingular in 5 days or so to check-in. Ill post any news then.

Just buy it unlocked...it's not that much more expensive if at all cause you're getting a larger memory card.

That's what I did and I have to say it is the best phone I have ever had. I also have a feeling that Cingular will disable the flash menus and themes cause you know they will wil overwrite the OEM firmware with their standard "shop cingular" crap. Just a thought..

So it might not be that much cheaper and not cheaper after MIR's with the price point anx stated.

Between your email and a whole ordeal with verizon today...ive finally been convinced to buy an unbranded phone.
Im a little nervous about it, but in the end, with all the delays and whatnot...screw it. Im sick of waiting and im sick of this crap chocolate phone! 😡
So here goes...I bought from wireless_experts EBay store, so now i wait!
It remains to be seen whether i thank you or curse you for pushing me over the edge to actually do this though! 😛

Sure it'll be cheaper but you'll be getting a branded phone that most likely will have bugs as well as a smaller memory card.

I read the review on the Chocolate phone hereon phonescoop and they were saying once you get past the name that's all its about. I bought mine unlocked months ago when it was like $350 for the package and I have never regretted it. Like a few others on here I got REALLY sick of waiting for the release. Everytime it kept getting pushed back. I hope for your sake it will be released heard a couple of months ago that it was going to be released at $300-390. That information is old now so im not sure how much that helps!

Well that same thing happened to me back in June and as soon as I found out that it was going to be released for about the same as the unlocked phone I bought IT on eBay!

Bad news...but maybe expected.
My rep told me there is no planned release of the 810i before November 5th - ouch. Take it for what it is worth...

They may as well not even bother releasing it then. New phones will be on the horizon by then, however they will be crappy LG or cheap Samsung's. Cingular has a pact with the devil never ever to release a good phone again. And I will continue to buy unlocked. Glad I got my w810 3 months ago.
