Does any one know if SanDisk 1 GB Memory Stick Pro Duo (SDMSPD-1024-A10) is compatible with this phone?

Thanx a lot!! One more question: I read that the maximum memory card size that can be used is 2 Gb, but you said that you're using a 4 Gb memory stick. What's the real limit for memory stick pro duo cards?

Interesting you say that. I called Sony Ericsson and they told me the best I could do was 2 gig memory stick pro duo. I also asked them about the high speed vs. the regular and they said that it is better to use the regular not the high speed. Do you know anything about that? Did they say only 2 gig because that is the biggest that Sony makes in a pro duo?

Thanks!
Chrissy 🙂

Earlier many thought 2GB was the limit but now its not. Regular or high speed memory pro duo may not matter since both are being used by everyone now. I don't know why SE would favor the regular speed but both Sony & Sandisk make 4GB sticks now. I'm currently using the Sandisk 4GB Ultra II Pro duo and so far its been good.

Emmy-

Have you noticed any drag on the phone with the Ultra II MSPD versus regular speed 2GB card? Or have you had the chance to compare the two??

the memory stick ultra II cards work with the w810, but they are more expensive and don't have any advantage over the regular cards when using them with the w810. The ultra cards shine with SLR digital cameras that require faster storage speeds.

The w810 will support ANY size memory stick pro duo card. At the time of its release, 2GB was the largest card available (I have one of those as well). 4GB cards work with the phone, as will the 8GB card (which right now are WAY too expensive!). You can pick up a 4GB card at newegg.com for ~$120

That's what I thought about the Ultra II. I think the only noticeable speed difference would be transferring files from a PC to the card thru a card reader. Anyway, I saw the 8GB somewhere on the net for $900.00 not too long ago. Thanx

WOW!! 😳 newegg.com what a find!! My 4 gig card is on its way to me with a free black case. It was only about $127 with shipping and the free case and it's Sony brand. I couldn't find it any cheaper on eBay.

Thanks! 🙂

I have not experience any drag on my phone using the Ultra II MSPD...at least not yet on regular use like navigating, playing music or songs. In fact my phone has been very responsive...thank God. I can't comment on the regular 2GB card as I have never had one to compare. One can't probably tell the difference unless you have something to measure it side by side but here are some notable differences if you're interested:

Regular Sony 2GB:
Write speed at 15 Mbps

Sandisk 4GB Ultra II
Write/Read Speed at 9MB/sec, 10MB/sec

* 1 mbps = 0.0125 MB/s
megabits and megabytes are two different units and obviously anything that reads & writes at megabyte speed is way better than megabits.
