Nokia 6126 / 6131 / 6133
6131 activation/set up
Anyone else get an asian/european charger with theirs or know if a US charger works OK?
Also...if I take the phone to cingular will they set up service and functions (MMS. etc.) or should I renew my service with them, then transfer my sim card and download functions myself?
Thanks!
I would not bother taking the phone down to Cingular. Go to Nokia.com, go to the support site and download the setting to the phone yourself. It takes less than 10 minutes to do. You will need to have an active sim card to make it work.
As for the set-up...I had to go to Cingular to set up my new account (former AT&T) anyway, but they set up the sim card and all without any hesitation...they were very helpful about it.
Phone seems to work fine. Even the text message icon seems to work without problem.
any other advice or info you might have is vertainly welcome though...especially about interfacing with a Mac. computer!
thanks!
As far as iSync, look at:

I think this is the thread with the info you need.
Warning - street addresses sync over as a note, and if you modify the entry, it syncs back over as a note and deletes the address in AddressBook. It's not a 6131 problem. It's an issue with iSync and Series40 3rd Edition phones (like the 6131).
I ran into a problem today though. It seem that I receive text messages without any difficulty, but pictures/MMS don't show up as being recieved...it's not an icon problem, the picture/message itself does not show up.
I reviewed my cingular account and it seems they forgot to add the MMS package onto my plan, but that was never an issue with receiving pictures before with my old phone and plan.
Does anyone know if this is a problem with the plan?
Or is there a software update I need to download to activate the MMS reception capability?
Thanks!
I get the alert tone and message that a picture has been sent, but when I try to retrieve it, it tells me that I have to go to settings to 'check multimedia settings to receive messages'
...Any advice?
thanks!

I haven't tried with my 6126 receiving any kind of multi-media message because I just don't have an interest in receiving those things and I don't have a data plan.... ☹️
the rep there said he had set the sim card for everything they offered...apparently not.
I did go to the nokia site and had the settings downloaded to my phone, and it seems to be working just fine now...no problems, all icons show up and everything comes through clearly....
now just have to get it linked up with my mac!
thanks to everyone for the help
