Well, I pressed menu 0 and the mobile web settings are there to change, however... you cannot type or erase anything 😳 . So it looks like I'll have to buy a data cable and use bitpim to edit the wap settings if I'm going to use my own wap server. I was wondering when Verizon was going to change that 👿 . Just wanted to let those of you that use your own wap server know you'll need to buy a data cable.

Forgive me for the stupid question but ...

Why would one want to edit one's WAP settings?

It's a long process to explain but I'll try to sum it up. It's possible to run your own wap server on your computer that your phone will connect to and run the mobile web with, instead of using Verizon's server and being blocked from certain mobile sites and having to pay them $5.00 a month. You just need to edit the wap settings in the phone with your own proxy and homepage to do this, and verizon blocked lg users finally from editing it manually in the phone. However I found out a day after my post that by using bitpim and editing the paramtable1.fil file in the phones filesystem you can change the settings.

Maybe I'll try a web search and see what I can find out about this. Thanks for the info!

As far as I know people have been doing this for a while if you go to www.howardforums.com. I don't believe you will find anything other than how to run a wap server or get free proxys being that LG's never disabled editing the information before, until people start to play around with the phone more.

You can just find the paramtable1.fil file I mentioned with bitpim in the filesystem browser.. and edit it in a hex editor. There are tons of instances of the http://homepage to remove and replace it with the page you want. I found it easier to just replace the first one you see and the one that says http://homepage that has news and info after it because this way I just press up which is what the key is assigned to orginally and it takes...

So does all this make the mobile web faster? Exactly what will this enable a user to do? I'm with olimonde on this. I've never heard anything about it! 😳

I would be scared to mess up the settings. Especially in hex. If anything, I don't mind the 5 bucks, I jus want them 2 speed it up the connection because I don't have 3g in my area.
