I - like many people - are on the verge of getting this phone. I was waiting to read the reviews over the first few weeks and then - if positive - I would go for it. For the most part, whether it's been here, Howard Forums or Mobiledia - most reviews have been glowing. Then a few people started complaining about signal strength the past few days. I don't know if these few are unlucky or whether signal strength/reception problems is (or will be) inherent with this phone. So far it's only two or three complaining (and one of those gave the phone a glowing review stating he was so impressed with the clarity of the calls) - so I am just wondering if these few are unlucky or hard to please or is everyone (thus far) having these problems?

u should wait, the reviews thus far on this site are from die hard fan boys/ girl. They think everything is great, I would not buy this phone right away, the 8100 was a pos until v7 and still iffy at best

quite bashing the 8100 and 8300 you don't even know have you used either phone yourself. Personally i've used the 8100, and have direct involvment with out 8-10 others that all love their 8100, and teh 8300 should be exactly the same or better however i have only experienced the 8300 for a little bit today but from what i saw and heard it performed well.

I presume it is not me you are accusing of bashing this phone - since my only aim is to find out from others whether they are indeed having a reception problem. I personally believe that as more phones are purchased (this week) then we'll all get a straight answer to this.

yep tried it took it back to the store in two hours, weak RF

Palermo, I wrote a bunch in the other thread about reception.
The phone is very very nice. The new thickness , the speakerphone quality and lots more are great.
It has 2 huge problems - The earpiece can not get loud enough for outdoor events or noisy areas and the reception causes the other party to hear broken sound when you are in a fringe area.
If they can fix those 2 things the phone is sweeeet and I am not an LG fan but it's nice.
The keys and screen are great etc.

So what you're saying is that if you use the phone in a not-so-noisy area and if you are in a decent reception zone then there is very little to complain about with this phone???
Also, why you appear to be flopping: when you originally did your review you said that you carried on a conversation in your car and also walked around the store and you stated it was perfect. Now, using it in your office - it has gone down hill. Maybe the tower near your office is having problems - maybe there are sunspots causing you problems. But to be honest that is why I did a posting last week and asked why people who review phones don't wait a week or so before putting in a review so they can give their phone a full and fair test.

people that bash it are just staring at the signal meter and that is the problem. My lg's always show a lower signal strength than my motos, but my lg's always work better. My 815 drops calls and doesn't always ring in at my house while showing 2-3 bars, my 8100 would show 0-2 bars and never drop a call or not ring in. I really beleive moto exaggerates their signal meter, and I know it isn't my 815 because my old 710 and razr do the same thing. I had my 8100 and 815, one in both hands, moto showed two more bars than lg, i would call the 815 from the 8100 and go straight to voicemail. Then I would call the 8100 from the 815 and it would ring right through showing only one bar of signal. I don't trust that meter, i never dropped calls or misse...

I returned my 8300 but not because of RF. I heard everyone perfectly clear and from just about anywere. I had no complaints about reception at all. My only issue was that people couldnt hear me all that well. It went from muffled to garbled and a few said there sounded like there was a hum in the background. I don't know if that can be fixed by a software upgrade or not but if it eventually is I would buy that phone again in a minute. Everything else about it was nearly perfect.

that sucks, maybe you just had a bad one, that happens, especially in the first shipments.

I was thinking that too. I might just wait a month and try another. I really liked the phone other then that one problem.

Guys
There are nod bad ones for the most part..
These are main line production and they can repeat the quality over and over millions of times.
They are all the same !!
They just have some issues, getting another is not going to help anyone until they come out with a rev. in a few months.

ok, i get shipments of phones all the time and I have received an entire case of 20 phones that were bad and had to back before, but the other box that came the same day was fine. It happens, there will be a few lemons out there.
