I have had the 8100 and have loved it. I have had no issues with reception and voice quality. My previous phone was a motorola v400 which I had for 2 years and by the end I had to talk on speakerphone to talk so maybe the 8100 isn't that good? I just want to ask the ones who say the reception is bad is it worse than the 8100 or is the reception and loudness better on the 8300. Thank You! 🙂

I have both phones and I like the 8300 so much better, looks, voice qaulity, and speaker phone only issue I have heard is that sometimes you can't hear in noisy places I have not had that issue yet.

Thank you any one else with experience with both phones????

I had a Motorola E815 which I wouldn't get rid of after trying out other phones because the reception was much better. Well, I got the 8300, and in the basement where I do most of my business I get excellent RF with the 8300. I get 3-4 (full) and the call quality is great, just like a real phone.
The speakerphone is loud, although I've heard louder. One problem I have with the phone is the mic sensitivity. The Samsung a950 had the BEST mic of any phone I've tried out. It would pick up tv sounds perfectly (E815, 8300 don't do this) while recording a video or voice memo, and you could hear the person talking in the video from across the room, also with the speakerphone people could hear you from far away clearly, unfortunately Samsung...

I went to my local Verizon store today (Smithaven Long Island) and they had 2 of these phones on display but they still said "initial programming required" so I was unable to check the audio quality yet. Overall the phone seemed a good size and the flash ui was fun to play with.
Phone has side-tone (you hear your voice) and I was able to get a "your call cannot b completed" recording and the earpice volume was not that loud. Perhaps there is a setting we are all missing?

Pretty coincidental since I just upgraded to the E815 - my issue with the E815 is I have a hard time understanding people through the earpiece - it is like hearing slurred speech. The volume on the earpiece is very loud and I wonder if this is contributing to the garble effect. Did you experience this with your E815? Anyway, I originally wanted the VX8300, but it was not available - the good news is I still have 10 days to return the E815 and get the VX8300, as it is now available. My concern with the VX8300 is the sound quality, reception, and hearing clearly through the earpiece when surrounded by noise. Can you tell me about your experiences with the VX8300 and these issues. I use my phone a lot, and since I will be obligated for 2 years,...

I have had the lg 8000, e815, and now the lg 8300. The lg 8300 has is overall the best phone out of the three. People keep complaining about the rf and earpiece volume, but I just dont see the problem. I have made call from all different parts of my city and all of them have been pretty good. I think people tend to nitpick when a phone comes out. No phone will be perfect in the first 2 days of a release. Buy this phone, I really dont think u will be dissapointed.

Well, I did notice that the speakerphone garbled voices with the E815 and sometimes that would happen with the earpiece, I think that the high volume did distort speech somewhat.
I can definately say that the call quality of the 8300 is better than the E815, you can tell the technology is newer and it sounds like you are talking on a landline. The mic on the E815 was the most awful part for me, if I wasn't talking directly into the mouthpiece people couldn't hear me clearly. This doesn't happen with the LG, however with recording videos audio and walking away from the phone while on speaker the mic quality isn't much better than the E815, although it is better.
The reception so far of the 8300 is the same as the E815 for me in the ...

The reception is better than my 6100, which was really good to begin with. When the 6100 would drop calls in my office building (erratic signal: full on, and then nothing.), I haven't experienced that once with the new phone...

I had the 8100 for a day a few months back. I didn't get as good of a signal as I do with the 8300, PLUS the phone got hot very quickly after using it 😳 , something I haven't dealt with other phones so I returned it. That's the only information I have for that being I only had it for a day 🙂
