Yes, there are keys on the front. Still having great difficulty getting phone to recconize the music on my card. I have listened to a few though with phone open and closed.

i can't open the music with out going into the tunes and tones list and clicking on my mp3 when i press the button on the front it says player error and opens the verizon player

you have to make that the shortcut to my mp3s. go to tools then shortcuts. Viola!
