I really enjoy the unlimited video capture length feature BUT....176 x 144 resolution is kinda old to me, the only phone better than this is the a970 which I'm just not to fond of. I have and like the 8100 and am thinking of upgrading but before i do i wanted your opinions, do you guys think a newer phone with a better resolution is on the horizon at all?

I debated on waiting the last time. The VX7000 was out and the 8000 was on the way. I went for the 7000 and glad I did. It was quite awhile before the 8000 made it debut. Was the 8000 better then the 7000? Of course, but worth the wait? Me, I get a phone every two years. So I have waited long enough. Phones are like cameras. By the time it comes out, another is ready to take it's place. You could drive yourself nuts trying to keep up. If I had unlimited funds, hell I would be changing phones like my underwear. But alas, I have to settle for NE2.

Just my .02

There are two new Samsung phones due out. The SCH-A870 with a 2.0M camera was/is due 2nd qtr. The SCH-A990 with a 3.2M camera is due 3rd qtr. I'm not sure if either or both will use the new 16.7 million color screens or not, there is little information available on them. However, I am sure they will be very expensive. Especially the 990 as that is to become the new flagship phone for verizon. What little info is available can be found with google.

I say wait. The 8300 is the last of the G1 phones. The Sam A870 is the upcoming G2 phone for VZW due out Q2. I checked out the 8300 at my local VZW store yesterday and decided to wait.

G1 designates first-generation phones.
G2 designates second-generation phones.

Ah, Mr. Mellow Paul, back at it again.

The 8300 is a terrific phone. After plenty of research, I bought two on Thursday and, after playing with them for two days, I'm very pleased.

I'm surprised how incredibly nit-picky some people are. I'm convinced they over-research and over-demand, losing in the end.

I say, "Get one! Get two!"

If I had to get a new phone right now, and if the Samsung SCH-A870, were not on the horizon, I would get the 8300. I suppose we are all questing for perfection in our own way. One thing that is important to me is a good camera, and the 870 does have a 2 megapixel camera.

from what I have seen the A870 will not have a 2 megapixel camera on it but rather a VGA one. from the looks of it, it's going to be yet another piece of junk Samsung with bad reception due to a very poorly placed internal antenna. anyhow the only way you're going to get a good camera is if it has the word Canon, Sony, Nikon or Kodak on it and as far as I know, no cell phone has that (get it!). anyone who wants to buy a phone for the camera needs to seek serious help. Here is the link to the info I found about the A870 and all the other ones I found say the same thing.
