Blueant X3 + 8300 + Echo

Loony2nz

I have the Blueant X3 BT headset paired with my 8300. I have had people consistently tell me that they hear an echo. They hear their own voice as an echo, not mine. I don't hear an echo. When I use the handset to talk, no echo.

Now I wonder...is it the headset or the handset? Since I don't have any way of testing different headsets (I'm not rockefeller) or handsets (see previous), I'm looking to you guys/gals to help me figure out what my next "debugging" steps should be.

Thanks!

I have no experience with that headset, but I had a problem with the 8300 and a motorola h500 headset. There was a long delay between tapping the button and it answering a call. I talked to a guy at verizon and he thought it was a software issue with the phone. This phone is new enough that I don't expect them to know all the answers yet. Anyway, when my wife got home, I tried her h500 with my phone and it worked perfectly. So I exchanged mine for another h500 and it also works properly.

So I would exchange your headset for another one (same model or not) and see if that fixes the problem. If not take the phone and headset to vzw and let them resolve it.

That long delay you speak of, I've experienced that with 2 different headsets that my friends have used. They're both using the HS820 and the v710. When I call them, they pick up and begin to talk, but I miss the first syllable or 2 until the headset connects. They didn't know this fact until I told them after a few incidents.

This just makes me wonder if BT is all that it's cracked up to be. I'm almost not sold completely on the technology yet. I was hoping for a "wired" clarity with BT. Not seeing that with my phone or people I know using it. ☚ī¸

When I answer a call, my headset beeps, and I start speaking after that. Otherwise the caller would miss some of what I said. I ASSUME that's normal. The delay with my first headset was that I would tap the button and the phone and headset would keep ringing. If I waited it would eventually answer the call. Before I knew that, I would tap the button again and it would end the call. Then that would show up as a received call instead of a missed call. I thought my phone was real messed up, but it was the headset.

As for wired clarity, I don't know if it exist with other headsets or not. Most of the time the clarity on mine is pretty good though, and it is so convenient to use. As a side note, I used to think they looked real stupid on peopl...

EVERY Verizon phone with BT echoes because they have PHUCKED with it by crippling the BT.

There is not a Verizon BT phone that does NOT echo.

Are you reading this VZW? BTW how is that lawsuit going for ya?

I have a Motorla H3 if you lower volume the echo will go away. When looking at the outer screen if you lower the volume under the red you should be o.k.

I just ordered the SawTooth 2 from them. I keep my phone on Med-High and have no problem. Using Jabra BT500 and BlueTrek G2 with volume set on med. Clear on both ends. No static, no echo. LG has said from day one that the Moto's are 'not' compatible with their phones. My problem is losing the BT connection. I have 8100. Ordered the 8300, but haven't gotten it yet.

I'm going to head on over to Best Buy and try the LG HBM-300 headset. It's a good guess that if it's the same brand, it should work well. Right? Good assumption? hahaha You know what happens when you assume 🙂

I had the HBM-300. Worked great - good sound, no echo. I returned it only because it kept disconnecting from my 8100, just like all the others. Still haven't gotten my 8300. Ins keeps telling me back-ordered.

I was all excited when I saw your post... thinking we had a super quick answer on the ole' LG BlueTooth HBM-300 headset. Heck, what was I thinking... It's July 4th, Best Buy is probably not even open today ! I'm multi tasking and calling them as I type and I stand corrected, they're open 'till 7pm tonight. You BEST have an answer by tomorrow noon or so. 🙂 🤤 😉 Have a killer 4th Loony and all !

Ok...only had the LG HBM-300 for a few hours last night.

My first impressions: Call quality is clear. No static whatsoever. Sounds like a wired connection. People who have spoken to me using the BT headset still hear an echo. However, it's faint compared to my previous X3 micro headset. It's definitely not as comfortable as the X3 and definitely not as aesthetic (god it's ugly).

I'll use it for another day or so before I decide to take it back to BestBuy or not. $75 out the door at BestBuy. I've seen it on eBay for ~$17 (slightly used).

Think maybe I'll swap it out for another BT headset. Maybe a Moto 820.

The "faint" echo still bothers me. There shouldnt be ANY echo... grrrr.

By the way guys, I ordered the SawTooth 2 speaker-kit from Blueant, but will only be able to test it with 8100 till I get the 8300. Great company. Had a technical question and got a call back from Australia. Should have it by Wed or Thurs. Will let you know how it works.
