Will charging over night have long term adverse affects on battery life? Some tell me yes others say no, whats the scoop? Thanks guys 🙂
...
No, it will not. I have regularly charged my 8100 -- same battery as 8300 -- over night for the past year, with negligible decrease in battery capacity over that time. About once a month I let the battery run all the way down until the phone shuts off. I practiced the same regimen with my 4400 before that.

InsuranceMan is correct. I've charged the battery of my previous phone (LG VX4400) over night MANY times and after 2.5 years the battery is still great.
Fear not, battery man.

ACTUALLY IT CAN. WHEN I HAD THE 8100 I USED TO CHARGE IT OVERNIGHT ALL THE TIME. ONE DAY I UNPLUGGED THE CHARGER AND MY PHONE KEPT SHUTTING OFF BY ITSELF. I TOOK IT TO THE STORE AND THEY TESTED THE BATTERY AND IT WAS READING 13 SOMETHING AS THE CHARGE WHICH IS HIGHER THAN WHAT IT SHOULD BE (THE VOLTAGE IS WRITTEN ON THE BATTERY). THE BATTERY HAD SWELLED. THEY ASKED IF I REGULARY CHARGED IT OVERNIGHT AND I SAID YES AND HE SAID THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. THEY HAD TO REPLACE MY BATTERY. SO IT IS POSSIBLE.

they didn't know what they were talking about. the swelling wasn't from the charging overnight. LG has some bad cells out there that tend to swell up. Check the forums several people have commented on them.

That is correct. In fact, there was a recall on the 8100 batteries.
