Well, a 15 sec video is 179 KB, so a 512 MB card would hold about 42 minutes of video. The amount of misic would depend on the mp3 compression level. At 128 Kbps, you would probably get about 8 or 9 hours of music on 512 MB.

I have a 1gb card. I have 9 episodes of Family Guy, 252 songs, 77 pictures, 20 ringtones - in addition to the factory ones, and still have almost 80mb of space available. Oh, I guess the additional ringers are on the phone and not the card.

Wow, that is a lot of songs and other stuff on a 1 gb card. What is your mp3 bit rate? I rip my CDs at 256 kbps for my mp3 player. A CD with 68.7 minutes of music takes 125 MB. If I were to rip at 128 kbps, the space would be 62 MB. Since a 1 gb card is really only 953 MB, that means that I could get about 1056 minutes of music on a 1 gb card. Assuming that your songs average 4 minutes, you are getting 1000 minutes of music on the card. Since you have a bunch of other stuff on the card, I am assuming that your bit rate is less than 128 kbps. Just cutious, since bit rate determines how much music a card will hold.

I don't even know. Most of the songs I have on there are in .wma format. I only have 32 songs on there in .mp3 format. I just load them through Windows Media Player 10, using the VCast music sync feature. I rip cd's onto my computer and then sync with MP 10.

OK, wma explains it. The defult rate for wma is less than that for mp3 to get the same sound quality. I don't remember what the default rate is for wma, since I changed the default to a higher bit rate in WMP10. Actually, I didn't realize that the VX8300 would play wma. ðŸ¤

its set up to play wma you have to hack into the service menu to enable mp3s

That's what I did to set up mp3. I just didn't realize the default was wma. Where do I place wma files? The my_music directory?

On the movie time, I forgot to multiply the number of 15 second clips by 15. The real video time should be 42 x 15 = 630 minutes, or 10-1/2 hours. Sorry for the error.
