TERRIBLE reception in Charlotte NC

Almost every review I've read on the 8300 states "Awesome reception", "Great reception", "Pro's..reception".

Mine is absolutely the worst I have experienced in 10 years of cell phone use. Tons of dropped calls and missed calls where it went directly to voicemail.

Could it be a bad phone.........again!

You hit the nail on the head. The 8300's RF plain sux. I used to have the 4400, and we have people saying the 4400 was better than the 8300, but my 4400 had poor RF. People talk about recording music, and about Bluetooth, but a phone's main purpose is to be a phone. I got a Motorola V325; it has great reception, never had a dropped call, and never even had to pull out the antenna. I couldn't care less about music, and as far as the camera is concerned, the Moto camera is not worth beans either, no phone camera is really any good at this stage of development, that's why I bought a Canon PowerShot A700. For now, the best VZW has to offer is the Moto V325, as far as reception matters.

Hi Paul,
The 815 has good reception too.
Just in the past 24 hours I have returned the 8300 and received 3 bad E815's. First one the 0 key popped up, second one the END key sounded like there was broken plastic beneath it, the third one freezes up and keeps going to a screen saver.

I'm pretty depressed with regards to phones lately, wished I had my old 270 C Timeport back. Greatest phone VZW sold period. Keyword phone. Not a video cam, not a camera, not an iPod, not a laptop. Just a damn solid great sounding phone.
