Hi All -- just a quick update. I am on my sixth bluetooth headset (!), the Plantronics Voyager 510, and am having good luck with it. Reception is clear, range is better, and folks on the other line report good sound thus far. This thing also has a noice cancelling mic, which is a plus. Despite its bulkier appearance, the 510 is surprisingly the most comfortable headset I've used. I'm going to try it for a couple more days and if I'm not satisfied, I'll think long and hard about returning an otherwise excellent LG VX 8300.

i have the same headset
ive had it for about a week
its one of the best ones that i have tried
...
Try it with sunglasses, and a bicycle helmet on and let me know how the sound is. That's my proposed use.
Amazing how noise cancelling and wind blocking ARE needed.
I hope this headset is THE answer. The recieve earpiece needs to go IN the ear. Glad one manufacturer got it!!!

I've tried it with eyeglasses and it fits fine. I haven't done the whole bike helmet/riding a bike thing...yet! 😉
In all seriousness, despite its bulky look, the Plantronics 510 fits very well. You can't really even feel the thing.

Cmon guy I went and bought a 510 today from staples the new silver one..
Yikes , I cant believe you guys like this ?
First it's way to fat behind the ear and pushes your ear away from your head.
The call quality is okay but you can make the volume loud enough with the 8300, not even close.
Range is also a concern. Walking around a store today I got static which is un acceptable..
It also will disconnect occasionaly from the 8300.
Dont waste your time.
We got the new little tiny Nokia today and the new Moto behind the ear. Testing starts tonight

I'll give you that: it is a little fat behind the ear, but is still surprisingly comfortable. I disagree on the volume; I've found myself turning it down because the sound is so crisp. Of the six other headsets I have tested, this one works the best with the 8300 by far (with the Discovery 640 coming in second). I am still a little concerned about the BT capabilities of the phone, though. It shouldn't take this much effort to find a match...

Yes the bluetooth is not right, That is the story.
I have the new Nokia 800 and the new moto 605 and they all echo back to the person calling.. Also the 510 does it just not taht badly because the volume does not get loud enough to do it..
The volume on the two we have does not get loud enough for noisy envir. Like cars and outside and shopping etc..

So is the handwriting on the wall here: return the 8300 because it has faulty bluetooth?
...
Yup...same issue here. I've tried a few headsets. I'm happy with the Plantronics 320. No echo. Just that I'm not happy with the controls..not as "fluid" as I'd like. Takes a while to connect. To make a call, I press the action button. Instead of hearing, "Please say a command" I hear, "::beep:: say a command".
So if you don't want an echo, but willing to put up with missing the first second or 2 of a conversation, go for the Plantronics 320
