MP3's...WMA's...is it either/or, or can it be both?

I've had my 8300 for about 6 weeks now, and I'm just getting to putting music on it...(I'm a Mac user, and we just got DD's PC running XP with Windows Media 10 on it)...anyway, I started ripping some CD's so I can get some music on the phone and after lamenting to my husband about how tedious this is going to be, he offered to FTP my library from iTunes over to dd's computer. Everything that was in my iTunes as .mp3 is moving nicely into Window's Media player (the .mp4 format is another story, I'll have him try to convert them). Now before I go and enable the mp3 feature on the phone, will I still be able to play the .wma format? (I have some cd's that I started ripping for dd to listen to in her room that are not on my iTunes library).

I tried to follow all the rules reading here... I copied a few WMA files, along with some MP3 files to "MY MP3s" folder. The WMA works perfectly, but the MP3's are not even showing up on my screen.

And yes, I've enabled MP3's @ the "hidden" menu... Am I still missing something? Please HELP!

Yes. It sounds like you are expecting to see both mp3's and wma's at the same time. This won't happen. They are both on your phone, and can both be played -- assuming no other issues -- but each has to be accessed via a different method. Go to "Get Tunes & Tones", scroll down to #7 to play wma's. If you want to play your mp3's, scroll down to #8, "My mp3's". Hope this helps.

When you put music files on the card, the wmas must be placed in the "my music" file and the mp3s must be placed in the "my mp3" file. Then you can go the get tunes and tones menu as described by the previous post and that method will work.

Thank You RockItMedia!

So to make it simple: YOU CAN HAVE BOTH, mp3's and wma's in your phone. The mp3's goes to the MY MP3 folder, and the WMA goes to MY MUSIC folder.

It works perfectly!

Thanks Again!
