Ringtones

I downloaded the program audacity so that I could shorten songs from my computer to use as ringtones on my phone. I emailed these ringtones to my phone, and they all came through. However, some of the ringtones had good sound quality while others sounded pretty bad. They all sounded good on my computer before I sent them to my phone, so I don't understand why they don't all sound good on my phone. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

if the clip is to large(over 350 kb) it is automatically compressed(poorly i might add) before it makes it to the phone. cut down length or quality of the mp3 to send it to the phone and keep the quality it had on the computer. or spring for the data cable and use bitpim. data cables are 25 at the verizon store right now. that's part of the music essentials kit which also has the stereo headset with 2.5mm plug for your phone. also memory cards are marked down at the moment. you can easily store your ringer on the memory card using a how to listed on the bitpim website.
