I'm thinking of getting the Chocolate, the KRZR k1m or the 8300.

Few Questions:

Can I make Songs I have on my computer as ringtones on the above listed phones?

How do Chocolate and 8300 sound with/without Headphones?

I have the 8300.

Yes, you may easily put songs on the phone as ringtones.

The dual stereo speakers on the 8300 sound quite good, I think. They are loud and perfectly clear. Of course, there is not a tremendous amount of bass, but why would there be?

I often use the Jabra ear phones I purchased with it, which sound great, owing in part to the effective equalizer. (I have it set on Rock.)

WHAT??? Rever, I got the 8300 last week and got the music essentials kit, and ripped songs from my CDs and synched them onto the phone, but then there was no way to use them as ringtones. They could not be transferred from the music library (on the memory card) to the ringtone area on the phone, and even if they could the byte count would chew up too much of the limited phone memory. Do you know somethng that I don't???

Dude....you need to follow these forums more closely. You just need a card reader, you don't need the music kit. Download a free program called Audacity. Use it to cut down mp3 to 30 seconds and 64kbs. Also increase the song volume to your liking, the louder the better as long as the song is not distorted. Then save as mp3 on your computer. Finally, change the file extension from .mp3 to .mid then resave, then e-mail the tone to your phone and save as ringtone. Verizon does charge 25 cents for each e-mail just so you know. This is the best and safest way. You can go the Hacker way and get a program called BitPIM and a data cable to connnect your phone to your pc but this is risky. Some people have had their phones fried. Good luck.

What is a "card reader"? I have a microSD memory card in my phone. Does it have anything to do with that?

It looks like a USB flash drive but has a slot on the side where you can put in the microSD card. Then you put in the USB port on your computer and you can copy mp3s, pics, etc. You can get it at a Verizon store or Best Buy or Circuit City, etc. It's about 20 bucks.
