I am the guy who discovered the bluetooth disaster with this phone and now after a few months and testing of probably oh my god - 50 headsets, There is a way to enjoy the phone with bluetooth..

The 8300 and yes all 8300's have a Bluetooth design that has problems with echo to the outside caller with most headsets on the market, some more than others but they almost all do it..

Yes it's true that some people dont care about the outside caller getting the feedback and echos and that is okay. Some of us want a crystal clear conversation that you and the outside caller can enjoy. Well for those who want a good clear call at any volume level, you need to use the Plantronics 320 either the R model from VZW or the Silver one from Best buy or ...

Has anyone using the plantronics 510, had issues with answering an incoming call? I just bought that headset and when I hit the multifunction button on the headset, it keeps transferring the call to the phone instead of keeping it on the bluetooth headset. Any solutions? Also any other problems people have seen with the 510, b/c I am getting tired of this phone

Thanks!

Yes. I have the same problem with the 510. Verizon has a firmware update coming soon (I hope) to fix known issues with bluetooth on the 8300. I have been told this by tech. support at *611 and at a vzw store. The guy at the store (8-05-06) told me 2.5 weeks.

i spoke to a verizon rep by calling 611 and she said she's never heard of any issues, always get a different story with each person. As far as the 2.5 weeks, you only have 15 days to return a phone, which is what I am considering doing

Maluthanga, I didn't know you were within your 15 days and considering changing phones. Not sure how to advise you there. If they have an update it's not guaranteed to fix our problem. But 611 told me about the update a couple of weeks ago. Last Saturday I was in verizon and asked one of the techs. if he knew anything about it. He looked in the computer and said it was approved and that they usually have it about 2.5 weeks after approval. It strikes me that he actually looked and the lady you talked to didn't know and didn't look. Or, maybe their all full of it! I hope I didn't just complicate your decision. 🙂

I've got a Jabra bt500 and don't have any issues with it. Everyone on the other end says it's crystal clear, no echo at all and all my incoming calls are received great from the bluetooth.

How does it perform in windy conditions- if you don't bicycle, maybe 2 ft in front of the air vents of an auto airconditioner? (How does the person on the the other end find it?)
I'm considering that headet, but it may need a wind sock, too.
Thanks!

I'm considering the Motorola H700 headset...wish I could get some feedback on it before I buy it.

Had my 8300 for a couple of weeks now, I got the Plantronics 500 because of this site. It has been perfect on both ends, it's a little big, but so are my ears.

Go try the Logitech mobile traveller. You will not be dissapointed. The H700 does not work with the 8300.Mobile traveller is the best headset for this phone. I use it and works 100 percent fine. Get the ear loop adjusted properly and then enjoy! Windstop tech works great, also cutts down on background noise. No echoe's whatsoever! I highly recomment this headset!

Actually the Logitech Mobile traveller works even better! I have the 320 and a manager at the verizon store said to try out the logitech. I couldn't be more happier. No problems whatsever and the windstop tech does work. 320 has too much static. The trick on the Logitech is to get the bendable ear hook to fit comfortable, once you do that enjoy it! Works great while driving since there is more noise when on the freeway. I have been asked if I am not using my headset, but I was using the Logitech. Hope this helps, and no it doesn't look awkward, actually looks pretty sharp.
