my 8300 battery

I just got this phone on Thursday. I love every aspect of it, I just have one concern - the battery. I have gone from full to none within 12 hours. Now I'm not sure if this is why, but I was in an area this past weekend where my phone was often searching for service. I thought this may be why the battery has run out so fast. Any thoughts? I'm thinking about exchanging the phone for a new one. I could go 3 -4 days on my 4500 without a charge. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance.

Yes, if you are in an area where the phone is frequently searching for service, that will drain the battery much faster. I usually get two days out of my battery with no problem, and am a heavy user. I recently took a roadtrip and found the same thing you described happening with my phone, as there were areas on the highway with little to no service.

I live in a marginal signal area and the battery life is excellent for me. Because I do not need EV-DO, I turned it off, which prevents the phone from searching for that signal. I believe that saves on battery life.

To do this, go to the menu (press OK at main screen), press 0 seven times, go to Network Select (3), Mode Preference (1), then you can select 1x only.

EVDO or Evolution Data Only/Evolution Data Optimized (often abbreviated as EVDO, EV-DO, EvDO, 1xEV-DO or 1xEvDO) provides fast wireless broadband access (3G) internet service directly to your phone. If you want to surf the web, etc., it's great. If not, turn it off and extend battery life.
