No MP3 play, must first convert to WMA???

I love my new LG VX8300 phone. I have one problem. I purchased a microSD card to transfer photos/MP3 music files and while the photos transferred fine, the phone will not even let me move the MP3 music onto my phone (let alone play them!). And yes, I punched in the service code at the hidden menu and enabled MP3 play, before anyone asks. A VZW rep told me I need to convert the files to WMA audio, but that doesn't make any sense if it works for people the other way. Why is this happening?

Hi, Jason,
Your best bet is to get a card reader and then drag and drop the MP3 files into the mymp3 folder on your card.
I think Verizon has set things up so that you can't transfer MP3s, but if you've enabled the hidden feature then you can use them once they're in place--which you have to do external to the phone.

Thanks for the reply. As I mentioned, the phone has a microSD card reader and I purchased the card for it yesterday. On my PC, I can see that the card has been formatted by the phone to reflect all of the folders (i.e. My Pix, My Sounds, My MP3's, etc.) and that is exactly what I did - I dragged the MP3 into the My MP3's folder (and also tried with the My Sounds folder). When I place the card in the phone, it lists the MP3 in its proper folder but gives no option to play the song or move it onto the phone. The only option it gives me is to erase it from the card. 😢

One thing I've seen in other posts here is that the filename can't be too long. I haven't run into this myself, but I note that my longest MP3 filename is 25 characters.

I don't understand, though, what you mean by "the phone has a card reader." When I suggested a card reader, I meant somethign other than the phone--a device that lets your PC see the card as stand alone memory without any of the phone hardware or software in between.

after placing the mp3s on your phone you also need to open your menu -> press 0 -> then enter 6 zeros -> go to 11. music settings -> and mp3 enable. then you should be able to play mp3's on y our phone.

Three are two ways you can play MP3's.

One is to go to
Get Tunes & Tones
My MP3s
Then press OK on the MP3 file you want to play.

The second way is to update the shortcut key for the play button so it will play MP3's.

Both ways will play MP3s on the phone.

I found that after I formatted my microSD card in the phone, then moved it to my laptop and copied MP3s from my laptop to the "My MP3s" folder on the microSD card, they would play by holding down the play button on the front of the phone for 2-3 seconds.
