Motorola v60i (CDMA) / v60ci / v60ic

Has anyone tried replacing the standard extendable antenna on this phone with a fixed stub antenna? It seems like this would fix the broken antenna problems so many people complain about with this phone. I understand that the stub antenna from the TDMA and GSM models won't work on this phone, but I've seen aftermarket kits for converting to a stub antenna. I was wondering if anyone had tried this and if so, how their reception compared before and after.
