Ringtone too big??
Hi there,
I just bought my Chocolate phone yesterday.
I browsed this forum and thought I had it all under control...but it didn't work. 😢
I'm trying to set personal music as a ringtone. I cut the song via audacity and exported it as a mp3. Then I went to funformobile and sent the clip to my phone. My phone says the message was too big!!
I tried this with a 25 second clip, 20 second clip and 15 second clip and it still says: "MSG is too big. Can't recieve MSG." I tested the clips a couple times by playing them on my media players and none are more than 30 seconds long.
Am I doing something wrong here?

just from my experience you have to keep them under or around 200kb.
...
for you to open the ringtone up from your phone through mms the message must be under 350kb in size. Right click on the file you are trying to send, go to properties and see how big it is. I don't know how audacity works but on my program i can change the bitrate(basically the quality of the clip) by turning the bitrate down a little i can save a ton of kb's and hte clip still sounds excellant on the phone speaker.

I must be doing something wrong... I clipped it down a couple more bits. It's at 23.0 KB (23,600 bytes) now and my Chocolate phone still says "Message is too big. Cannot recieve MSG."
All I keep doing after I make the clip in audacity is go onto funformobile, entered my phone number in, uploaded the clip. My phone shows the clip coming but can't receive it cause it's "too" big.
I don't know what else to do. Any ideas?

why dont you just send an e-mail with the ringtone attached to "your phone number @vzwpix.com and then when you recieve it on your phone hit "options" and then "save as ringtone" ????
