Average Ratings

audiovox
we have this phone and it is overall a good phone. the color screen takes a lot of the battery but the speaker phone makes up for it. also the phone book display is a plus instead of scrolling down each and every # you can turn pages with 5 or 6 #'s to a page. very smart. the phone feels solid and closes tight. makes me feel like i have something of substance in my hand when using and hanging up. got the extended battery and it seems to help with overall battery life. i would buy this phone again.. and i am very critical just go to the motorola t720 comments that is a phone i totally dislike. 4.5 overall review for the audiovox - nothing gets a 5 without a cam

Good Phone.
This is an excellent phone. The Audiovox 9500 sports 3G capability and is a perfect fit for Verizons "Get it Now" Service. If anyone is having problems using this phone is a good chance they are usin the phone with US Cellular. Once again, its not a case of a bad phone, but one of a bad system.

One of the very best all-around phones
As a sales rep for a wireless service provider, I get a chance to try out all phones that we represent. This phone followed the Motorola T720 in our product line and was better received after a skeptical reception and initial lofty price tag. What shortcomings the T720 had, the CDM9500 capitalized on.
For example, the Motorola T720 has had numerous issues with the screen locking up and powering down on its own. Rare is the occasion that our technicians see a CDM9500 with a service issue.
In addition, the CDM9500 has just about every feature you would want in a cell phone: voice activated dialing, brilliant full color screen with magnificent resolution, an outstanding speaker-phone feature, super phone book layout, and great standard ring/alarm tones and graphics.
There are just a couple of drawbacks, but these don't seem so significant when compared to its strengths.
Pros:
* Great color screen which is even more obvious when adding photos
* Built-in speaker-phone with better than average audio quality
* Easy to navigate
* Phone book is one of the very best that I've gotten the chance to use
* Shape conforms to head very well
Cons:
* Flush keypad can be a little difficult to use at times
* A little on the large size, but this can actually be advantage for users uncomfortable with the increasing number of micro-sized phones.
* For some reason, I cannot get the selected Text Message Alert to sound all the time when a text message is received. Usually, the downloaded ring tone sounds instead.
* EXTREMELY limited standard battery stamina. An extended life battery is not so much a recommended accessory, but a mandatory addition.
* Microphone is a bit on the sensitive side. Fairly often, a caller's nostril breathing can get in the way of a conversation.
It's a shame that this phone is no longer in the product line of many carriers. I enjoyed it so much, I purchased it on eBay for my fiancee; she loves it just as much, if not more.

Great Mobile
Just upgraded for free using Verizon's 'new every 2' plan and replaced my trusty old Audiovox 9100 with the 9500. My first clamphone, but I'm getting used to it quickly. This set has a great screen, nice graphics, decent selection of tones and melodies. I find the earpiece volume more than enough (contrary to what many report as too quiet) and have mine set on 3/4. Sends and receives email without Internet subscription (but you pay .10 to send and .02 to receive). Got the extended battery, this should be the standard battery for this type of power hungry appliance. Also got the car charger and desktop cradle. Has better fringe reception than the old 9100. Keys are small which could be problematic for someone with big beefy fingers. Grow your thumbnail longer and you will have no problems with keypress. Accessories and a second 9500 for the wife to replace her old 9100 came to $180. I give this phone high marks - looks good, feels solid, well made.

Toshiba CDM 9500
This is the BEST! I love this phone.
Pros: I have owned several cell phones before..all of them Nokia. They were good, but none compare with this new phone from Audiovox. The compact size is a plus. I purchased the extended life battery to help with talk time. I love being able to voice dial. The color display is awesome. The brew technology is fun and adds to the adaptability of the phone. I even have the option of downloading to my computer from my phone.( if I can find the accessories) The reception is incredible! I may never switch again until is stops working.
Technology is ever changing. This phone is the best that I have tried so far!
The cons: The accessories (re: desktop charger, changeable faceplates, adapters, etc.) are not readable available. I have done extensive searches on the Internet and also have had my carrier looking, and although the accessories are advertised they can not be found. The battery life with original equipment is not very long, especially when downloading ringtones and/or games.

battery too low
the phn is pretty good except the battery is too low..that's the only problem I find with this phn.

9500 vs 2235/120c/3285
I've used or still use all phones listed. They are used in Western PA/eastern OH between Youngstown and Pittsburgh. In an area known to drop calls, which did with the other units listed, the 9500 has held with no trouble. I even completed multiple handoff's from Verizon Wireless digital to Alltel Analog/Extended Network with no drop. The speaker-phone is usable. I find fault in a color screen phone running software that doesn't support color web browsing, but that isn't the primary role of a cell phone. signal is and this 9500 passes my usage requirements without fail. I would have liked to see a pda cable for the unit too, but it makes calls and keeps them, which at the end of the day is all that is important.
