The color is the least of its problems. The fact that
a) the keyboard sucks (too cramped/weird shaped keys)
b) the dual hinge is weak (according to Rich and Eric at CES)
c) It's a Samsung, so its reception cannot compare to the 9900.
d) the camera is only 1.3 MP as opposed to the 2 on the 9900.
e) its the same price as the 9900

While I am not arguing that Samsung is better the LG (LG is #1 Samsung #2) I will offer a rebuttal (because I am bored)
a) dont know, never seen the phone.
b) see a)
c) There are a lot of Samsungs with very good reception (650, 630, 950 (worked at my place where my 8100 would not) and 930)
d) the 8000 (1.3 mp)is as good as my 990, if...

a.)The keyboard does suck! It's not even close to the keyboard on the 9900. I'm a bigger guy though, someone with really small fingers would probably be okay.
b.)The hinge, was tough to judge. It felt okay, but I really think the novelty of the dual hin
