I found out about this on HowardForums!
Holy @#$%
The two pics are of the same phone, eh? Pretty awesome. Touchscreen AND a real keyboard! π
Guess this is the 'iPhone killer' that's been so talked about. What are they saying for the release date? Q1 '08?
...
Rumor is their pushing for December but i'm not expecting it til Q1 08.

3008?? Hey, we're just talkin' about a phone release here, not the next time you're going on a date. π
...
π€£ Love the huge screen. I wonder how much it will cost? $500+???
...
I will buy that phone. Period. Looks way better than the Iphone. And no the best network.
...
I'm planning on waiting in line the day its released.......lol.
...
You guys are crazy. Do we even know what features this thing offers? It's all speculation at this point.
...
I just want a huge touchscreen,tv,stereo speakers and i'm set. Vcast already has e-mail,songID,browsing,3D games, downloads. Now that Verizon UI is Flash lite and OBEX is no longer crippled, well 95% at least...i can't wait. Now if it only has a Vcast lazer to zap any iphones i see, lol.
...
That's a freakin awesome phone.... I see that it's touch screen but will it have the same basic features as a PDA? Full internet access and touch screen as in... I can use it as a scheduler by writing on the tablet? Or is this an extremely cool yet 'basic' phone?
...
no, my understaning is this is the update to the 9900, so I would say the features would be sinmilar, but they should be adding the tv service to it.
...
If this thing has TV.... then I would get it.
...
It does have TV... I see the TV icon on the phone display. THIS THING IS SOOOO AWESOME
...
thats hot.
the slider confused me for a minute but thats the VX8800.
both look sweet, as usual LG is #1

Maybe for Verizon π
Because LG just went from 4th to 5th place in global ranking (# of units shipped per quarter) Sony Ericsson took their spot.
Samsung, better watch out, you're next!
...
Blah, who cares? When the marketshare numbers are that close between makers, they go up and down in position easily and often. Doesn't mean much.
The only thing that'd actually be shocking is if Nokia lost #1, 'cuz they have a large gap on the pack.
Oh, and technically, you should be saying, "Motorola, you're next", 'cuz Samsung passed Moto for the number two spot awhile back. Again, no biggie, really.
...
Great pics! Looks like a couple of cool phones should be coming down the pipeline
Maybe on this "texting phone" they will raise the text limit past 50! (which is the most absurd feature about the vzn UI)
The touchscreen/keyboard is a great idea to!
I still don't think this is better technologically than the iphone, but its certainly getting there. Until verizon lets loose on their software restrictions, they won't touch the iphone. The best part of the iphone is the easy to use software.
...
Have you ever used a RAZR? The text limit is past 50. It slows the phone way down. And when you do finally decide to erase your inbox/outbox, it takes forever to delete. I'm not saying that I don't get irritated with the 50 limit, but I think the tradeoff, of having a phone that runs like it should, and not with a Motorola lag, is worth it.
...
but thats the point...you should be able to make a phone that has a high limit without slowing the phone down. The technology is there.
It's the main reason I got a treo, the text messaging is fantastic.
...
I guess you're trying to fool yourselves. This thing looks hideous! Look at the SEND and END buttons, they don't light up properly.
Ummm, keep trying; LG....

Am I to assume you made the judgement about the lighting from a low rez, blurry internet pic?
...
I hope I'm judging it wrong, because otherwise (if the phone actually comes out like that) it would look like a toy phone. You know, something you would get out of a piΓΒ±ata...
...
LOL, you sound worried, Anxio. Are all the other ATT employees that upset about this? π
EVERYBODY will be coming out with big-screen, touch UI phones in the next year or so. You had to have seen this coming.
...
I have the impression that the pics are of a prototype
...
Is it going to have Wi-Fi?
...
Doubt it, it will probably use a WAP browser
...
no html? no wifi? once again, this phone is far from the "iphone killer" that everyone will eventually proclaim that it is.
Looks cool, but until verizon improves their software and updates their UI a lil bit, I feel like they will remain behind in their overall phone selection.
...
I think the main thing is this is not a smartphone, so of course its not a direct comparison to the iPhone. But, everything with a touch-screen now-a-day seem to be under the microscope for is iPhone-killer qualities. The EnV and the Chocolate style phones have been out way before the iPhone and they both BIG sellers. Just think of them as an next gen upgrade instead of an iPhone killer. If you are looking for a iPhone killer... look toward HTC, I doubt Moto and LG will make anything that will directly compete with it.
Personally... I rather have the 10,000.
-Real qwerty keyboard (EnV won the fastest text messaging contest, iPhone is the slowest in text/e-mail)
-Mobile TV which is in testing stages of my area and it looks 100X better th...

What about the iPhone makes it a smart phone?
...
calendar? I dunno, its kind of a weak smart phone...but then again, so is the moto q, lol.
...
The only thing that the iPhone has that a regular phone doesn't is the web browser. I don't think that qualifies it as a smart phone.
...
don't tell me, I never said it was a smart phone...I really don't think it's in that category.
It's just a really nice phone with a lot of cool features.
...
It's really not even that nice of a phone when it comes to features. The only thing that sets it apart from any other upper-mid range phone is the user interface and the web browser. That's all it has going for it.
...
Those look like pictures of two different phones - the slider seems to be in the same place as the flip, which would be physically impossible.
I'd imagine the slider is the VX8800 and the flip is the VX10000, though I'm really not convinced that they'd release something so similar to the enV with a revolutionary number like VX10000 - I'd expect VX9950 (like the new Chocolate) for such a small revision.

They are two different phones. The 10000 and the 8900 which replaces the 8550.
...
Meh. Its a pretty short, vague review. He could easily be making it up. βΉοΈ
...
What are you talking about? Of course they're two different phones. Who said they weren't?
...
look at the first post along with the ones that follow it. they think its one phone with a slider and qwerty like that Helio for (the Ocean i think).
...
Wow....how can you look at the pics and think that its one phone?
...

...
Awesome FULL web browser on a Non-pda verizon phone.
...
I bet the Mobile TV is going to look great on that screen.
...
I agree. I really like this new design the have. The last model of the enV is just hideous. I had the first model a couple of years ago and it was bulky but attractive.
...
Yeah, I havent had any of the V series yet, but I might have to give this one a shot, I REALLY like the full internet browser. π
...
Now I don't know what to do βΉοΈ i760 or the X !!!!! So even though the X doesn't have wifi you can still go on the net w/it? so what's the upside/downside of the 2? Help guys!!
...
I would wait and see if the 'Voyager', formerly the 'X' is going to have a special data plan or if there will even be any data plan since its going to have a FULL HTML browser. This is the first Verizon cell phone to have this so who knows. I'm getting the Voyager cuz it looks like the KU990 and Prada, its touchscreen, html browser,TV for Gods sake. A historic phone, the Iphone killer.
