Blackberry question

I went to a Verizon store yesterday and was thinking about getting the Pearl. I asked the associate about plans, etc., and he told me that for $99.99 I could have 450 minutes and all features activated. I'm just a little confused because when I got home and read the brochure, it had email and data as a separate charge, in addition to the $99.99. Which is right? If I fully want to be able to use all the features (voice, messaging, internet, email, etc.) and have 450 minutes, what would be the cost per month?

Thanks for your help guys! I really want to figure this out so I can get my phone tonight! 😁

you can pick a voice plan than will work for you than add the feature of a bb 24.99for 10meg of use or 29.99 for unlimited usage. Text messages is also wise to add a plan on say 250 messages for 5.00 a month.

Well I wanted to have unlimited texting and messaging, but I'm not sure how much data I would need. I'm new to Blackberries/smartphones. What do you think is the smartest and most inexpensive way to "have it all" with 450 minutes?

the rep you were talking to was probably suggesting that you go with the email and messaging plan as it includes unlimited data for your blackberry and unlimited pic/vid/txt messaging for 99.99/month. but if you were to go with a nationwide select 450 min plan and then add the 29.99/month email & web for blackberry plan it would say you about 10/month (89.98 monthly access as opposed to 99.99/month) the difference between the two is that the 99.99/month is for blackberry users that need the ability to access a corporate blackberry enterprise server (BES) if you are a personal user or your company does not have a BES than you should go for the 29.99 (email & web) plan that allows use of blackberry internet service (BIS). no offense to my fell...

Thanks for all the info. What difference would I notice if I had the corporate-type service or personal? The $99.99 plan includes unlimited data? I was just confused because in this giant book/brochure he gave me, it has data listed separately. Sorry to be a pain in the ass with all my questions! I really appreciate the input! 😉

no difference for data plans...you just can't use a blackberry enterprise server with the 29.99 plan, otherwise both unlimited (after 5GB a month they slow your speed down for the rest of the month, though)

"unlimited (after 5GB a month they slow your speed down for the rest of the month, though)"

WHY DO THEY SLOW THE SPEED FOR IF IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE UNLIMITED?

I was looking at VZW I dont know. I have hear about them crippling phones and that when they say its unlimited it really aint unlimited....

Go on a Select plan with the 450 minutes, and then get the $29.99 email and data plan.
I just got my Pearl about a month ago, and I absolutely love it. It's my first PDA, so it takes some getting used to. And there are always little differences that you wish you had. But overall, it's a great phone! There is so much you can do with it!

You guys were right! I was able to save $10 and get the personal $29.99 data package in addition to my calling plan, so I'm all set. Now if only I could get some tips on how to make the most of this cute little handset. . .

Thanks to all!!!

Yes! Very nice of you to ask! 🙂

The only problem I'm having is installing the Verizon Blackberry Management software. My computer says that it hasn't been approved for use with Windows XP, so I have to look into that. I would love to be able to just type in my contacts on my computer and sync it with the Blackberry.

The suretype is really easy to get used to. I was hesitant at first, but it's very intuitive. My phone gets emails before I get them on my computer!

So far I love it, but I have a lot to learn and discover so I can make the most of it.

Do you have the $44.99 data package or the $29.99 one? I was just curious how to sync contacts and calendars with the personal email and data plan.

Hi Chris,
Happy holidays
Yup still have the pearl and I still like it But last night it locked up on me which was strange I couldn't even make a call or move anything this has happened a couple times. I really like the BB's but I might consider going back to a reg phone?? Not sure what to get if I did that. Do you have recommandations on that Idea.

What happen with you on the 8830 did you just go ATT all the way yet?

Happy holidays to you to!

Yeah, I have thought about going back to a regular phone--but I just dont know if I could do it now, lol. I might check out the treo 755p, I think it comes out on Jan 7th. I love that razr 2...its a really good looking phone and the screen is gorgeous. I might try a regular phone when the google OS comes out. Android should be pretty kick ass!

I got a good deal on an 8830 from ebay right after you told me you sold yours via craigslist. I also sold my 8703e to get a little cash to put toward the 8830. The keyboard has taken some getting used to, but now I like it.

Im thinking about att, but I am still not quite ready to pull the trigger yet.

Same with me on the reg phone I like the email. I sell all the time and email is great. Treo's were so buggy at times for me to many resets or lockups.

I sure like the smaller bb size. Good you sold the 8703e your like me always moving on to something else. I do miss the keyboard but love the camera with the pearl since I got kids.
Has reception gotten better on the Northside? What did the trouble ticket comeback with?

yeah I miss the camera...sometimes you just want those quick shots, when you are carrying your digi cam.

The 8830 has been a little bit better with reception than the 8703e, but still not spectacular in this part of town. I have not heard word about the trouble ticket yet...they are supposed to be calling me and giving me an update. Hopefully they will do it before the end of the week.

ok the data is separate its 29.99 for the person use. for the 450 mins with unlimited text its 59.99. with vzw navig and mobile email and unlimt text its 79.99 but your device cant do the mobile email. so your cheapst option voice side is to get the select nationwide 59.99 voice plan the 29.99 data add on and get the 9.99 vzw navigator as a seperate option. I think this is your cheapest option. now the 9.99 feat can be removed at any time you just have to call in.
