I haven't used the Curve, but have a Pearl. You can make your own ringtones for the phone. I use bitpim, but there is also software included with desktop manager that allows you to cut mp3's into shorter segments. Then save the sound to your memory card under ringtones, and they will show up. You can also go to www.mobiles24.com and download ringtones.
Besides individual phone tunes for people, you can also set up individual text tones.
