Spring on Verizon Rumor?

WirelessFamily

Apr 29, 2009, 7:56 PM
Hello,

I heard a rumor a while back that Sprint (or other CDMA) phones could be activated and used on VZW. My wife likes the LG Lotus and I the Samsung Instinct but like VZW service...been with them for years.

I called customer service and she said that it could be activated but would be bumped from the system after a day or two...the lady (who was very nice) said after the network realizes it is a non vzw phone it bumps it.

So is it not possible or is the rumor I heard not true?

Any help I am greatful for.

Thanks

I have heard of doing this with other carriers ( Sprint to Cricket) And I would think you could do this with Sprint to VZW. I have never heard about it "bumping" it off the system.

I could be wrong, but to the best of my knowledge thats what I know.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the info..and I correct my Spring = Sprint mistake. ha-ha

Ok that is great news! I googled it and saw some posts on other sites stating that vzw was opening their network...I just got worried after I called in.

If anyone has anymore insight please let me know and thanks again

There is two ways you can do it. Force it over to VZW, or take the phone to a store, they will send it in to a testing place to make sure it has e911 and all the stuff (they wont load anything to the phone or change anything). Then they will send it back to you saying if it can or not. It doesn't take long really.

Does it cost much to do that or no? I mean i understand if they charge me just wondering what it might be.

and also so the network won't boot it? So if I get my wife a lotus we should be fine? I know that has e911 etc.

thanks 🙂
