Blackberry 9630 Walkthrough Video Link

Not sure if this has already been posted but here's a YouTube video I found (posted April 6). The audio and visual are subpar. **sidenote** I noticed it had Word Mole as a game--great game to play when you're trying to kill time. Enjoy

I Hate My iPhone

From page 19 of the April 5, 2009 NY Times Sunday Magazine:

I Hate My iPhone

The true story of a technological dissenter.

The iPhone was charging. Refined, introverted, mysteriously chilled, my new $200 tile of technology lay supine on a side table, gulping power from the wall.

Actually, the iPhone probably sips, like a lipsticky girl with a vodka drink. It usually does things in a cute way. Whatever. At 4 in the morning, I was in bed, fighting rage. I couldn’t stop thinking about that device’s tarty little face and those yapping “apps” you can download for it. The whole iPhone enterprise seemed to require so much attention, organization, explanation, praise, electricity. I know - I know: in th...

Rumor

I hope the rumor that the moron at VZW who turned down the iPhone is "no longer with the company" is accurate. I've seen reports that AT&T is working on a major upgrade of its 3G network to get ready for a massive (some say 10 fold) increase in iPhone data traffic likely because of the ability of the next gen iPhone to video conference.

I'm not an Apple fanboy but video conferencing using a cellphone is absolutely amazing from a coolness perspective -- this may turn all the new iPhone users into AT&T walking commercials making others want to buy one.

Its a shame that VZW couldn't have been the first company to introduce cell/video calling. Do we have anything on the way which could also video conference?

Any phone on any network?

I'm a little out of the cellular loop... I remember hearing a rumor in 2007 saying that by the end of 2009 all phones will be unlocked and you will be able to use any phone on any work. Has anyone heard any other details about that?

BB Niagara or Storm 2

Hey all thanks for reading.....

Basically when I am up for my NE2 I was seriously looking at the Storm 2 cause I was messing around with the whole clicking thing and its actually pretty cool. However recently I read that Verizon is coming out with something called the BB Niagra and its looks eerily familiar to the BB Bold....Now can someone kind of point me in a direction. The Storm felt really comfortable in my hands when I was messing with it, but am not too sure if the BB Niagra's buttons will be big enough for my pudgy fingers, (I had the BB Curve and was very uncomfortable with that)

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you all!!

Blocking Restricted Numbers

Does anyone know why VZW does not offer a service to block unknown/restricted callers? I get at least 4-5 calls a week asking for this service, everybody I know subscribes to it on their landline.

Its not like this is some snazzy new feature requiring all kinds of complicated programming and cutting edge equipment (landlines have had this for decades). Since the ringback tone service can have caller id based customization it would seem to be an easy service to implement. It also must not be very expensive to run since I just saw it offered for no charge as part of a voicemail suite by a free site youmail.com.

Any ideas?

BlackBerry Storm 2 will have WiFi.

As of right now, the new Storm that will be out sometime in Sept. will have WiFi. This may be the first CDMA BlackBerry with WiFi unless the Pearl Flip has it.

Cool huh?

Welcome back CWCANTY

I missed you. Because for a long time you kept it real for me and offered very informative info. I need some advice again. This July i am up for my new every 2. I am looking for something along the lines of the Voyager. I see 2 phones coming down the pike from Motorola that seems to do the job. They are the new Evoke and the A455 the "Rival" or might be called the rush2. Would you reccomend either 1 of those for me. Also do you know roughly what ea of these phones might go for price wise thanks again. If there is any other of my Phonescoop freinds that have helped me on here have any advice as well im all ears. Thanks again!!

Moto Krave . . .

Verizon is having a great sale on the Moto Krave; I see a lot of bad comments about it but it seems like a nice solid simple phone with the basics.

Can anyone please comment?

Also, it says you can download the latest software over the air; anyone know the latest update? Has the phone gotten better?

thanx

Verizon Reps in SC, please answer this for me!!!

When will Verizon take over Alltel in SC? I live in Spartanburg/Greenville area. Once the two are merged, will my phone still show Alltel on the screen when I turn it on, and will the web still be Alltel, or will an OTA update change it all to Verizon software? Also, what if I owe Verizon a bill that I have disputed for the last year that isn't correct? Is that going to close my Verizon service when they do merge?
