Who wants to take a "Tour" in July???

Looks like July for the new Blackberry 9630 "Tour" (great phone, not diggin the name tho). I really wish it was June, but I guess my 'ol curve can last another 2 months.

Shout out to detroit313 for being dead on with this one!

Donuts and coffee on me for anyone who wants to go early on release day to pick this bad boy up!

PhoneScoop Carriers Changed

Wow. All the changes are crazy (note, they order them by number of subscribers).

VZW moved ahead of AT&T. T-Mobile is ahead of Sprint!? Tracfone is ahead of Sprint/NexTel.

Storm users switching to BB 9630 Niagara

Just wondering how many BB Storm users may switch to the new BB when it comes out?

I mean with the new BB Storm software out and it appears the 9630's size is between the 8900 and 9000, I've read complaints that the 8900's keyboard is too small.

I guess it'll come down to if you gotta have a track ball or not?

Spring on Verizon Rumor?

Hello,

I heard a rumor a while back that Sprint (or other CDMA) phones could be activated and used on VZW. My wife likes the LG Lotus and I the Samsung Instinct but like VZW service...been with them for years.

I called customer service and she said that it could be activated but would be bumped from the system after a day or two...the lady (who was very nice) said after the network realizes it is a non vzw phone it bumps it.

So is it not possible or is the rumor I heard not true?

Any help I am greatful for.

Thanks

Apple May Hear Verizon Now

Sunday, April 26, 2009; 6:38 PM
At the risk of repeating myself for the millionth time, in many peoples' minds, the Achilles' heal of the iPhone is the network it's on in the US: AT&T. Since the day it was announced as being exclusive to that provider, people have been wondering one thing: How long until it's on Verizon? Rumors have surfaced time and again about the possibility, but today brings perhaps the most concrete news yet that the two sides are talking.

The two sides are discussing the possibility of getting Verizon version of the iPhone ready for 2010, sources tell

Musings from a former AT&T Store Owner

For thos of you that know Dallas / Fort Worth you will know this area well.

I have been looking in DFW for months now for my new stores and anytime I know I have calls to make in ther car I dread knowing I dont yet have my Verizon demo line.

In driving from Downtown Fort Worth to Grapevine I dropped my call 5 times! 5 times??!!?? Come on AT&T. I have a Blackberry Bold and everytime it drops I see the display dropping signal then picking up EDGE. This is the Metroplex. This is your corporate headquarters. My service actually worked great in Lubbock.

What is the worst is when I am in the car with the Verizon folks on a real estate drive and they are on the phone at the same time. I have witnessed hours of calls from them all ov...

BW, NYT confirm Apple-Verizon talks; "media pad" in the works?

Buzz up!on Yahoo!Well, looks like something's definitely up between Apple and Verizon Wireless. First came Monday's piece from USA Today claiming that Verizon could get an iPhone as early as next year, and now both BusinessWeek and the New York Times are reporting that Apple and Verzion are in talks—possibly about an "iPhone lite" and a touchscreen "media pad." What gives?

I admit, I was highly skeptical of yesterday's report from USA Today claiming that Verizon and Apple are in "high-level" talks about bringing the iPhone to "America's most reliable network."

But late...

Coverage outside of US?

I was wondering which wireless service works the best when traveling outside of the US? I know it depends on where you are going specifically but just looking for an overall answer. Also will the new BB Niagara have world capability when it is released in the next month or so? thanks in advance in taking the time to answer my question.

Verizon CEO Says 4G IPhone Could Be on Verizon Soon!!!

Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg took advantage of a recent chat with the Wall Street Journal to talk a bit about Apple. Seidenberg said that Apple never wanted to make a version of the iPhone for Verizon's CDMA network, since it wouldn't be able to be as widely distributed as the GSM-based models it eventually produced. Uh, yeah, Ivan, thanks for joining the rest of us over here in the nation of Duh.

Mr. Seidenberg also addressed the notion of Apple Inc.'s iPhone ever coming to the Verizon Wireless network, saying it is more likely that Apple would be willing to work with the carrier under the fourth-generation, or 4G, network, which follows the same technology standard as AT&T Inc.'s 4G plans."

Let all Verizon customers unite -- Demand th...

Roaming and coverage issues

I am a very happy T-mobil customer, but my wife's new job driving around rural areas is forcing us to look for a new carrier.

We were Verizon customer's from 2003-2004 but left for the following reasons

1. I was constantly having to call customer service to get re-embursed for roaming charges in areas they had coverage. Places like BWI airport, the Pentagon, downtown St Louis, suburban Denver, suburban Tulsa etc. I had at least 2~3 calls a month I had to do this for. Also, my phone was constantly "in-network roaming" and call quality was bad.

2. We frequently drive the I-44 corridor from St Louis to Tulsa. The Verizon maps even then showed complete coverage along the interstate itself, but we found 50~60 of the route had no sign...

PC Suite or Ovi Suite comaptible?

none of the VZW Nokia phones are listed as compatible with PC Suite or Ovi Suite on the Nokia web site. Does anyone know if any of the VZW Nokia phones are compatible? I'm looking for a non-smartphone that I can sync my outlook contacts and calendar with, I know some of the Motorola phones use a similar program 'phone tools" or something similar but also not sure which phones.

Finland Choose 1800MHz for LTE
Today, 2:23 PM by Eric M. Zeman

Finland has chosen to auction off spectrum in the 1800MHz band for future Long Term Evolution networks. Other European countries are looking at 2600MHz spectrum for their own LTE deployments. Finland's Ministry of Transport and Communications believes that using 1800MHz will be a better option, as it offers better penetration, wider coverage and lower cost to deploy compared to the 2600MHz spectrum. In the U.S., network operators such as AT&T and Verizon will use 700MHz to deploy LTE networks.
