My Verizon

How do you reset your 'My Verizon' account.

I can't register because it sees my number under an old 'My Verizon' account & account number.

Phone Exchange - 30 days - Dare to Storm or Curve.

I Currently Have The Dare, but feel like I need more.

I had the blackberry curve when I had us cellular and I used all the fetures.

I don't mind the touch screen and but don't know how well I would adapt to the SurePress Screen.

Is it so bad to get the curve even though its a few years old?

I want the NIAGRA but im totally douting that it will be out before april 30 2009.

Any Suggestions. Anything other I should check out (I do not like palm. Nothing wrong with it. It's just not my flavor.)

Verizon in Charlottesville in May!

Just got the word this week that the Alltel folks here are going in for Verizon training later this month, with the switchover taking place the end of next month.

Now, here's a strange...

What is the fascination of buying a dummy phone if you're not selling handsets and need something for a display? At the moment, no less than 8 Samsung Renown dummies are being sold on eBay. I sure wish someone would put up a new REAL Renown for sale. I'd like to buy one for a little less than full retail.

Synergies realized when?

So...Verizon has closed on the Alltel transaction and is in the process of integrating non-divested Alltel into the VZW machine. I am wondering when the ax is going to fall on the retail reps. You have Alltel stores and Verizon stores next door to one another or across the street from each other in many places. VZW plans to save money on roaming rates, but they also stand to realize synergies (eliminating redundant positions and closing stores). They have reps in the stores walking over one another trying to stay in their positions. Many Verizon reps who were cheering this merger are going to be out in the streets. When they thought it would be Alltel reps they were cool. What's going to happen is they will keep the best reps in the a...

Friends and Family Question

I have the NATIONWIDE PREMIUM FAMILY SHARE 1400 plan. When I log into my account I'm now seeing the option to add the Friends & Family plan/feature. 😁

I know my plan qualifies, but as with all things that appear too good to be true πŸ™„ , I wanted to check to see if any strings are attached. 😈

1) Will I be giving up any of my current plans features for adding this on?

2) Will my contract be extended for making this modification?

Thanks in advance!

In the interest of full disclosure...

Well, it finally went down. It was chilly dark, friday afternoon. ATT had free blackberry bolds, and I had an itchy trigger finger. Thats right, I signed a 2 year deal with ATT...GASP!

I had to do it, the deal was too good, and as many of you know I get pretty much get zero coverage at home. And while the network extender helped, its just not the same as actually having access to verizon's fantastic network.

ATT is strong in my city and 3G is everywhere, I actually got a bold for my dad recently and his phone was getting 5 bars of 3G service at my home.

This is just a trial run, I haven't ported my number to ATT just yet, I just felt I owed it to myself to give them a shot. If I do port out, I will definitely be coming back t...

New Storm firmware

Maybe this is old new and that's why there hasn't been a post on it yet?

But VZW will be pushing a new BB Storm software update.

Question regarding Blackberry's calendar

If I want to keep my calendar which is kept on a Blackberry permanently, what is the best way? I assume the Blackberry can be synched to either Outlook or Google calendars. Is one better than the other? Will they both enable keeping the calendars permanently?

New phones

I'm curious to see what you think about the new phones. I'm up for a new phone soon, although intrigued by smartphones I have had not such great experiences with windows mobile. Kinda leaning towards Env2 or intrigue...A phone that gets great reception and battery life is a plus πŸ˜‰

Samsung Smooth SCH-u350

Just got this phone today to see how much of an upgrade it is from the Samsung Snap (SCH-u340).

First off, this phone now offers Bluetooth, Mobile Web 2.0, Media Center (Get It Now), front screen is color, 3 diffrent menu settings, VZ Nav (GPS), 32MB of phone memory, extreamly loud ringer which can be changed by user, All-Digital, nice solid feel.

This is a big upgrade from the u340. There is no EVDO 3G, but if you are looking for a good basic phone, this one is perfect. Call quality was good too.

Any questions?

What's worse?

It's nothing serious, but just curious... I'm sure a lot of you have been in this situation that makes you anxious...

Which is worse?

* Being eligible for an upgrade, but forcing yourself to refrain from using it because a nicer phone is coming out in a month or two.

Or

* A nice phone just came out, but you have to wait for 2 more months for your upgrade?

Right now, I'm in the first boat... I badly want a new BB, but the Niagara isn't out for another ~2 months. Luckily, I don't like touchscreens so I'm not worried too much about jumping on the Storm.

Questions regarding smartphone browsers

I'm new to wanting internet access on a mobile device and am wondering whether a webpage looks different on a Blackberry than it does on another smartphone browser. If so, how would you describe the differences? Also, how would you describe the differences in appearance between a webpage as seen on a smartphone (or Blackberry) and the same page as seen on a computer?

Thanks, in advance.

A couple of questions regarding LTE

I read in this forum that Verizon will have its 4g LTE system up and running by the end of this year or early next year. If so, I have these questions:

1. When is Verizon likely to have LTE capable handsets, especially Blackberries and smart phones?

2. Except for streaming video and video conferencing, is LTE any real advantage over today's 3g capabilities? Will download speeds be significantly faster? It seems to me that one is not likely to be downloading large files to a phone where it is likely to make a significant difference.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

No More: "No Cool Phones" Posts, Please!

All of these forums have a similar complaint: "where are all the new cool phones, and can I get one for free?"

Geeez! People, it's 2009, and most phones these days can do things a PC couldn't do twenty years ago. What are you really needing in a phone anyway?

I think the REAL problem is that most people want phones tailor made to suit their own likings. Well guess what? The phone features you want may not be what someone else wants, and the dilemma that phone manufacturers and wireless companies face is combining things together in a way that will appeal to the broadest possible audience.

Maybe someday phones can be custom ordered like cars and furniture. You would be able to select the color, style and features you want, and delete...
