Is this some sort of scam?

So I’ve received several messages on my home phone from VZW. They tell me to call between such & such hours Monday-Friday about my wireless account. So I call and am prompted for my “10 digit mail box number.”
I do nothing, and then I’m prompted for my “password.” Still do nothing…”Log in incorrect.”
The number I’m told to call is 1.800.754.0961 the caller ID says out of area.
So I call VZW, “What’s up with my account, I got a message to call you guys?” Ah, nothing…in fact you have a credit and there’s no tags saying anybody’s called you.
So am I paranoid or what?...

Never ever call a number back which ask any information like that. Always call 611.

I totally agree, I just hope it doesn’t have anything to do with why for the last 2 nights…late night I’ve lost EVDO for awhile, in different locations.

They could be working on it. They usually do work on towers in the middle of the night when usage is at a low.

So apparently VZW has something called a ‘win back offer’ which means if you come back within 30 days they’ll refund you the ETF.
But the knuckle head in the store gave me a new account instead of reactivating my old one. So in VZW’s system it was closed and past due.
Called CS and they took the ETF off. But still you never know.
