It is AWFUL!
Even though the service is pretty good, it is enough to drive away customers who wan't a UI that's halfway decent.
I understand the idea behind doing it (making poeple feel comfortable when upgrading from one phone to another, etc..), but do they really beleive someone using the RAZR or LG9800/8100 wants the same UI as, oh let's say the LG VX3300. Come on!
Not the biggest deal to some, but enough to keep me away (along w/ outrageously priced calling plans) and stick w/ Sprint.

You're out of your delusional mind if you think people give a crap about the UI. I'd say it's limited to a few douches on this forum. I've taken 50-65 calls per day for a year now and I've never heard a single comment or complaint about it. That means I've taken more calls concerning Push-To-Talk than complaints about the UI, and that's saying a lot. It's a complete non-issue. But if it gets you to leave VZW, and eventually this Verizon board, I'm thrilled that it matters to you.

It's a complete non-issue. That's why every day on this forum there are at least three new threads started about the UI - either how much people despise it, or how to get rid of it and change it to something else.

I agree I read this site everyday and left verizon because of their childish UI. Itβs not for advanced users. But I guess verizon doesn't have very many advanced users. Give it some more time people will start to notice and the hate trend will even grow stronger. The UI sucks anyone who doesnβt understand this is an idiot.

The problem is that the UI is geared for the "massess" not guys/girls in this forum...Most of us are advanced users or at least people who won't have trouble learning a new UI. 9/10 people probably couldn't tell you what UI stands for, let alone tell you whether or not they give a chit about VZN's latest move. THE MASSESS DONT CARE, but we do, and trust me, this website and this forum is not a great representation of the average cell user. So if people are complaining here, that doesn't mean that people all across this country are complaining.

well duh? But my point is that there are not enough people that are complaining to verizon. If 10% dont like the UI, thats not enought to get rid of it. And how many of you have lodged a formal complaint to verizon??? You complain about the UI, but have you really done anything to change it? I've spoken with over 11,000 customers in the last year, and again not a single inquiry, complaint or even a hint of disappointment in the UI from a single one of them. If you don't like it, drop the service. There's just nothing else to be said about it. If a million or so people all the sudden drop VZW for ANY given reason, VZW will listen. But I assure you there's just not than many people that give a crap about it.
VZW will be the number one carrier in the U.S. by the end of this year. A standard UI makes sense for CS reasons. If a few people who post on a forum don't like it, I assure you that's not even close to a reason for VZW to consider dumping it.
Whine about all you want, it's here to stay, and VZW will STILL punk ev...

Personally, I hate the UI and I've told a number of reps...politely, of course. A few took issue which would lead me to believe they were far too emotionally attached to their jobs or they heard constructive criticism about the UI one too many times for them to handle. It's an issue among other issues that will prevent me from renewing my contract with Verizon in the near future upon successful completion of my contract (which is the only reason I haven't left already...and they never can seem to handle a contract amendment properly). What concerns this customer even more is that you, presumably a Verizon rep by your own admission, would refer to even one of your customers as "douches". Say that to my face and I'll make sure you get fire...

By the way, I used to work for VZW, so I got to carry my Sprint phone (still in contract at the time), and VZW side by side. Sprint was better by far.

True. I personally don't mind the red bars either. I think it adds some character to the screen! As far as having the same UI on all the phones and people switching carriers because of it or saying things like "why get a new phone, they are all clones because of the UI", and things like that, I just don't get it. So what if they all have the same UI? I don't get a new phone for the UI, I get it for the looks of the phone (such as color, size, antenna/intenna, etc. etc. etc.). Yeah, when all the phones had their own UI and you first got a new phone it was fun to play around with the UI, customize things, set your banner, add your wallpaper, etc. etc. and check out all the options of the new UI, once you set everything the way you wanted...

I left verizon do to the UI, clone phones is all verizon has now. CLONES can't customize folders,redbars, its awful to get a new phone only to have it be the exact same phone as before. I dont post much for reasons of a firewall. I've been with Verizon for few years and in the Wireless and Wireline for over 6 years. Not that it matters that I'm a second tier tech for data and voice troubleshooting, but I'm sorry to say that the above "talk" is just that ....talk. I have heard of nothing on imcomming changes to Obex b/t and UI's.
