Newly activated V551 question
Hi,
I just activated a new V551 and it is displaying an icon in the upper left corner that I just can't find in the manual or on the Cing website.
It looks like a letter "E" on top of a red-green stripe, and it persists even after I turned the phone off. What does it mean?

I think it's for the Edge thing. My mom got one and it has it on there also. I have a V400, and that's the spot where an icon comes up saying I have data capabilities, although, for some reason, it's disappeared today.
On a side note, I'm trying to email a pic from my computer to a phone, does anyone know a way to do it? I may just wait till I get the Mobile Phone Tools I just ordered.

You can trnasfer data back and forth from computer to your cell using mobile phone tools. Or you can e-mail it to your phone. Your phone e-mail address is yournumber@ , well I forgot the rest. I'll get back to you on this one.

I tried it, to my V400. The message went through, but I can't download the pic. Maybe it's because I don't have that icon right now. I sent it to the V551 and I got an error message. I'll just wait, I guess.

There might be an issue with your media net feature on yours and your moms account. Call customer service tommorrow. Or, there might have been an error in the over the air programming of your moms phone. If that is the case you will need to manually check the media net settings.
Don't forget to add a package on your account. Paying 3c ents per kb transfered can get expensive.

I hardly use any kb/month, niether does my mom, I don't think. At the most, the data is about $2.00.
And yes, there was a problem when activating her phone. The guy killed my SIM and put my number on her new one. I had to go to the store to get a new one for her phone. My phone started messing up before all that though, I noticed it when I woke up this morning. They said it was a signal issue, and it did come and go througout the day.

The little E on your phone means you have the higher EDGE internet capability where you are at. EDGE stands for Enhanced Data for GSM Evolution. It runs around 110-130 kbps a second. When I had a V551, I didn't notice much of a conection speed change. It might make a difference if you use your phone as a modem.....a process called teathering.
