Here is the scoop on Wal mart purchases

Well, I work in COR in the Chicago market, and I must say I am definitely enjoying the flame wars here about Wal-Mart/Best Buy vs. Cingular company stores. But I was in a Wal-Mart yesterday and stopped to read the fine print. Basically, the ONLY way wal mart will return a phone no questions is if it less than 15 days old AND has less than 30 minutes of airtime on it. Just thought I would pass it along. Cingular company stores give you 30 days no questions, and doesn't matter how many minutes you put on the phone.

A small price to pay to save hundreds for those who know what they want, Many agents have similar policies that are different from Cingulars. Read THOSE contracts for a real eye oppener.

But like many things with cost differences. The more you know as a consumer the more you will save. If you know what you want and pretty much do not need hand holding you can save money. If you have no clue, break out the wallet. Ignorance may be bliss but it's costly. No matter what you buy. Ever hear of extended warranites? Lots of people buy that highly profitable and expensive "peace of mind pill." ery Very few ever use one.

Peace of mind?? It's priceless. Kinda like insurance huh moron. Have you ever used your house insurance? Why don't you just let it expire and never pay it, since you probably will never use it. Until it goes up in flames and then let's see how much you think "peace of mind" is worth. Moron

It's interesting that the best you can do is to call someomne a moron. People really respect that. Instead of being rational you decide to take the "high road" and do name calling. Are you still in junior high school? You treat people like a jerk and guess what? They'll treat you the same way. Now who's the moron?

Ten- Are you still thinking because you were happy with minimum wage and clipping coupons that everyone should think like you?
I can understand your perspective because you made it through the tough times, raised a couple good kids and now your retired and have everything paid for. Nothing wrong with your life for you, but for others like myself, I would not be happy. What did you do to help other people?
I mean, When you go to a resturant you tip 10% because your a saver. When I go to a restuant, I tip 20%-25% because I am a spender. I have never worked on my own car, I dont even wash my own car. I dont cut my lawn, I pay people to do those things. Not because I am not capable or willing - Because that is how I give back. I make good m...

NO there is a difference between cheap and thrifty. My kids will say I was thrifty. Never cheap. I bought used cars, always Japanese. I tip at least 20% IF the service was good. I will spend for quality. I wash my own car because I enjoy it. I mow my own lawn because I have the time. I bought a Plasma TV and an LCD TV but not the most expensive. I pay people to do those things I cannot do. Its all a financial decision. can I save more by paying someone else? Sometimes yes sometimes no. Its a balancing act.

You make it sound like charity to have your car washed and lawn mowed. In reality you do not want to do those things yourself. There are many like you. Thats why there are car washes and lawn services. Those places won't miss me. My ch...

Ya I'm close to the same way. All my friends are concerned with wearing their name brand clothes and driving their fancy cars. I'd rather drive the '01 honda accord i have now and live in the house i just bought 6 months ago than drive the newest car out there and live in a tiny one bedroom apartment in the heart of the city. I laugh at most of my friends that are always trying to pay their car payment and afford their insurance while i'm busy adding cool things onto my house. Some people love to spend their money and drive the coolest cars, and that's fine with me! I'm more of the type that likes to save money now so i can retire while i'm young and vacation a lot while everyone else will still be working to pay off all the debt they've acc...

There are only two kinds of people in this world. those who live their dreams..........and those who work for them. If you cannot start a business or live your dream, you can at least save your way to that place. My dream was to make evry day MINE. No alarm clock to remind me to go to a job I despised so I could pay off a car thats old news after a year. When you release those schakles you can truly make some money doing what you WANT to do even if it does not pay much at first.

Many succesful business owners did just that. What they WANTED to do.

Hey, if you feel that acting like a jerk makes you look good go for it! You sure aren't going to gain any admirers by being a horse's butt. But then again, maybe that's what you like. If that suits you then go for it!

The ignorance is in your court. EVERY consumer advocacy group recommend you passon all extended warranties. No one says pass on Home insurance that is REQUIRES by ALL mortgage lenders. NO credit crd or consumer credit company requires the purchas of an Extented Warranty to "protect" their loan.

You cant be serious equating EWs with catastrophic insurances. Its a rip off from the word go. You may not realize this unless you are an investor but Best Buy made their ENTIRE operating Margin on the sale EWS alone. Circuit City was not far behind. You probably buy surge protector power conditioners and Monster Cables too.

How do you know? Did your refrigerator fail. How about the clocks. how about all things with power supplies?

If a surge protector saved ONE electronic item due to a surge in your lines ALL of the unprotected electronics would have failed as well due to the SAME surge. AC line surges are not selective. Clock and can opener power supplies are much less robust then a TV or computer PS.

Oh and contrary to popular belief a surge protector will NOT protect against a direct lightning strike.

But you knew that too!!! LOL

Hundreds?

Exaggerating a bit here aren't we?

Wal-Mart currently offers the RAZR for $32 less than a typical Agent or COR location.

Hundreds?

True, I hope we're only talking about Cingy here? In my area, the Wal-Mart sell Sprint phones for twice what the Sprint store is selling them for. Their T-Mo selection of phones is so old, it's not funny....

Here is my two cents:

On December 4, 2005 we actually had a Wal-Mart store Manager (make sure you read that part, I said STORE MANAGER, and NOT assistant manager, photo lab manager or anything like that, I said STORE MANAGER!) in my COR store. Now normally I would not have given it a second thought but since all this was going on here I thought I would ask what made him want to buy his new RAZR (with new service) at our store versus getting it cheaper at Wal-Mart. He told me it was because of the hassles he see's his customers go through every day when they have a problem. Wal-Mart will refer them to Cingular and then Cingular will turn around and refer them right back to Wal-Mart, etc.. until the customer is so pissed that they either c...

Thr problem REALLY is there is ONE company in the customer mind amd three in all the sales reps mind. The sales reps rag on all the others. Wal Mart claims its Cingular, Corp Store reps claim Agents are the problem, Agents claim Cingular is screwed up. Its a mess. No wonder Verizon is trending towards moving sales in house.
