i have sprint and have always had coverage issues in my house and i want to switch to a gsm phone. so i got a tmobile and cingular razr to compare the service. the tmobile is an improvement in my house but the signal still seems weak overall. when a call goes thru, the bars seem to go up and i was able to make calls downstairs without the call dropping. very pleased with that. now the cingular razr seems to have better signal. in my room it gives me 1-4 bars. the tmobile gives me 0-2 bars. so i messed with the network settings on the tmobile phone and it shows me 2 cingular networks (i assume they r 2 towers and show me a number for each) but the signal doesnt match the cingular phone. shouldnt they? i cant tell what the cingular phone is c...

Honestly (and this is coming from someone who LOVES T-Mobile and dislikes Cingular) if you're getting better coverage with Cingular, I would stick with them rather than T-Mobile. Have you tried Verizon? They're a better company overall than Cingular.

i want to switch to a gsm phone so no verizon. i think i'm gonna stay with the tmobile. i kept testing it some more. when i make a call with tmobile the signal goes up every time and stays there then goes down when the call ends. the cingular goes up a bit too but keeps going up and down during the call. i keep making calls side by side to the same numbers at same time and the tmobile seems more consistent when the call is made. i think it'll be good enough in my house to get calls. its only a oneyear contract. if it isnt any good then i can switch after a year. thanks for the reply.

T mobile sound like the better choice since you said it worked better and tested overall in your house, the signal bar don't mean much. i have seen full bar and not clear sound. i have a cell store for a while. also you can try diffent phones they make a diffence some times.

The T-Mobile RAZR's have more features; from what I have heard from people the Cingular version doesn't take video. Also depending where you live you will most likely not be able to get the phone onto the Cingular network. If you can then you live in an area where we have a roaming partnership with Cingular. When you do a manual selection and pick Cingular it will probably say "Not allowed."

Honestly, yeah I work for them but go with T-Mobile if you get better sound quality. In my area, I used to get 2-3 bars in my house but now I always get 5, even with my old v600 that doesn't work right. (The audio quality is bad; switched to v330 and it works like a charm.) T-Mobile is always putting up more towers. So you may yet see an impro...

Both cingular Razr's will record video. THey didn't when they first came out, but shortly before the release of the black RAZR they did. It was always there, just locked. Don't know why, because the RAZRs that were released in other countries had it right off the bat.... It's nothing special though, the video is sH*t compare to a sonyericsson.

I have received calls from customers that service was dim in there homes but did have over lapping 850MHz band coverage and was corrected by getting a NEW phone. Fuzz Bear is Right though. It doesn't happen very often. T-Mobile will always try and use their own network over a roaming providers.

Heres an interesting fact:

T-Mobile has signed an agreement with the ISP "Comcast" to help provide better services within homes T-Mobile towers cannot reach. The network construction has been under way for the past 11 months and should be completed sometime in late 2006. Service will be provided thru Wi/Fi routers. So if you already have a Comcast connection and a Wi/Fi router your already set to go. And if you don't we all know how often...

It could just be the EONS in the area. T-Mobile could be sharing the towers like in CA and NV, and so it says Cingular. Or maybe your roaming class is set incorrectly. It does happen sometimes that people get access to roaming networks that they shouldn't have.
