Samsung SCH-A790 / SCH-A795 / IP-A790

I received the phone from a family friend and went to cerizon and they can not activate it or transfer anything, Im located in the united states, maryland to be exact but someone please explain how would i come about activating this phone or getting a sim card

When in the address book mode, you CANNOT access the 2nd or 3rd or 4th letter in the book most of the time. After 5 phones, Samsung has duplicated the problem, with NO fix. They say it is a software problem, and the solution is when you want a number, just scroll through the entire book till the name comes up, or type in the letters of the person's name. Any ideas?

Can the gsm side of the phone be unlocked? Seems like a good idea, if you can unlock the thing.

Does anyone know if this phone is still available through Verizon?

Does anybody know how much this phone would cost without any service plans?

Any news on the upcoming Sprint version of this phone? It looks a lot like the canceled i550. Will it be a Smart phone, Palm OS, etc?

What is the model number of a data cable & software that I can use to set-up the phonelist and/or provide laptop connectivity? I can't find it on web, and Verizon is no help.

Am relocating out of the US and am thinking of selling this phone since there is no need for CDMA where I am moving.

Any buyers? The phone is virtually new and only a month old...It will come with a SIM card that I have already purchased from VZ and all the accessories including a car charger.

Considering its rarity Im tempted to take it to ebay but wanted to see a responce here first in people who really want the phone.

I am having a big problem. Sometimes when I recieve a call or every like 3 hours or so both screens on the phone go blank only white no numbers no letters and I have to shut the phone off and turn on again to fix. If anyone had the same problem please let me know. Also I would like to know which is the latest software on the phone.

I would love to know if anyone has ever used this phone in Europe (Ireland, Germany, Greece, France)

A found out that the A310 usb cable is compatable w/ the 790 (got that) now all I need is a driver or software compatable with mac allowing me to sync my calender. Any ideas???

I have one that is in perfect condition just needs the sim card, and another where the camera doesnt work but other than that powers up fine...

If this phone losses CDMA signal in the usa, does it switch to GSM service? I ask because I noticed that it does not support analog. Thanks

I'm and administrator with a large O&G exploration company, and we recently bought several of these phone for our int'l travelers. Some seem to work just fine overseas, while others disconnect from the GSM service after the number being called is "sent." Anyone have a clue as to what's going on? Two of my guys have had this problem in Indonesia, as well as Spain.

I am about to purchase this phone for no other reason than I think it's cool. I just wanted to confirm that there is NO speakerphone.

What kind of an oversight was that? Especially if they intended it for the business market? Oh well, still like the phone.

Verizon wont sell me a sim card, where else can I get one, Im located in maryland, usa

went to my verizon store today...did not have the A790...is this only available in certain areas..or did they remove it?

Its a multi-frequency phone. It is not the best thing since sliced bread! There are phones like that out there and Verizon just plain isn't carrying them. I'm almost so desperate for new technology that I'm considering a switch to AT&T! ..

Seriously. What is keeping Verizon from introducing full featured mobile phones - speakerphone, bluetooth, vga, etc., etc. There are plenty out there. They certainly are big enough to have Motorola and others produce phones for their networks with these features and more!

So forget the SCH unless you travel globally and have a need for the multiple bands.
