Motorola V710
transflash and mp3
i just got a transflash card in the mail, and i'm trying to get mp3's from my computer onto the card to put onto the phone. do i need the usb cable to do this? i originally thought, with the sd adapter (which i have) i could pop it into my computer, shift a bunch on mp3s on the card, take it out the comp, and pop it back in the phone - i think i might be trying to over simplify. a step-by-step walk through would be appreciated...i'm still trying to understand all the things this phone can do.
also, the zip file 'untouchable' had up on the forum a while ago - what exactly does that do?
thanks.
1. Prepare your mp3 files by renaming the file from songname.mp3 to songname.mid.
2. Insert the card in the phone and format. The format will create a set of folders (shared/audio) for media.
3. Insert the card in the reader and copy mp3 files into the audio subfolder in the shared folderon the card.
4. Insert the card in the phone and go to sounds. You should see the mp3 files ready to be played.
No, no!
You should have a SD card reader hooked up to your computer right?
The transflash should have already been formatted on your phone.
Just copy your MP3 files to the folder:
motorola\shared\audio
and your done!
With the original phone firmware, you can now move a selected MP3 (should be no longer than 30 seconds of audio) to your phone for use as a ringer.

thanks for the help folks...this SD card reader on the computer, is that something i need to buy, or do most laptops already have that? i have a sony vaio.
Mine doesn't have it. You can buy one for cheap, though. Plug it in the USB port. One other note... the instructions left by the other posters didn't work for me. I found I had to put the .mp3 files in a directory called /motorola/shared/sounds, NOT .../audio.
I didn't know you need to format the TF card by inserting it into the phone first. What I did was loaded all my music and pictures onto the card (i.e. i didn't see any /motoroloa/shared/audio folders) and insert it into the phone while it was still swithced on (I was too excited when I received the TF card in my mail...). Having said that, my phone froze, so I switched it off. Did the same process a couple of times, and only did i look for help in this forum!
I opened my TF card on my computer again, this time, I see a 'motorola' folder. I opened that folder only to see lots of other files with screwed up names and characters, as if the names were all corrupted or encrypted. However, I did find the /shared/...

When I try to delete the motorola folder:
Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or disk
When I try reformating the TF card:
Windows cannot format this drive. Quit any disk utilities or programs that are using this drive, and make sure that no window is showing the contents of the drive. Then try formatting again.
Obviously, I closed all programs that might still be connected to the card. But it still gives me that warning. Any ideas?
I had the same problem you are having. I dont know if this helped me but I put MP3's and all the audio folders to see if they will finally show up on the phone. Well what I did was put the card inside the phone, then I took one of the mp3s that came with the phone (eclipse) and copied it to the card. Then I checked it through the computer to see what folder the phone put the song. It put it into the audio folder so I put all my mp3s into that folder and inserted the card back into the phone. Go to media gallary and th...
