Backlight on Keyboard
lsk
Aug 26, 2004, 10:00 AM
The backlight on the keyboard of my V710 doesn't seem to light all of the keys. This is a problem in the dark and was wondering if everyone else has the same experience in low light situations.
...
the backlighting on this keyboard sucks. no other way to put it. it's uneven and hardly useful.
The worst thing is if you're a lefty,
and the lighting turns on when you don't need it
(why, you may ask? The litttle white pad on left side is a sensor. when there's no light hitting it, the keyboard lights come on)
I"ve had 3 v710s.. all are the same...
I've decided to live w/it

geez. why are so many people complaing about the back light on the keys.. they are perfect on mine. i see everything perfectly well. maybe i got the perfect one lol
...
mine are great too, i dont know why people are complaining. I think the keypad looks better than any of the other phones when its on. Im very happy with it. the lefty issue on the other hand sucks...since it will kill your battery

My keypad lights up perfectly, which leads me to think that perhaps those that don't are defective. Probably, some people prefer the blue backlight to the white, which could be the cause of some of the complaints. I've had both and it's six of one, etc. 🙂

ironically, I wanted the v710 to have the blue backlight...and when I found out it didnt (pre-release) I was disappointed.
then when I actually got the phone, I was pleasantly surprised with how the backlight looks. very stylish. looks like a black keypad with white letters (and colored symbols). now Im just as happy with this backlight as I would have been with the blue!

Yeah - I agree. I've got a few complaints (Earpiece Volume!!!) - but backlight isn't one of them... mine's fine.

what little white pad are you talking about? the ones to the bottom left and right of * and #? I tried covering them up, and the backlight never turned on.
...
yes, the one under and to the left of the *
if you cover it up, and then press a key, the whole keyboard should light up

hmmm, have you tried to press a key with it un-covered. the backlight comes on no matter what whenever you press a key.
