LG VX-8000

I know this may sound nasty...but u can do this...turn on the speaker phone, here comes the nasty part - lick the connector on the bottom of the phone until it says "car kit", then you can use the voice dial as a dial mode...pretty nasty, but works... 🤭

I know you have to purchase AIM thru Get iT Now. But if you have the unlimited text thing for 4.99 a month. Can you use aim unlimited or are those considered non verizon text messages?

There are now Datapilot cables that allow you to use the LG VX8000 as a modem to connect to the internet.

Does anyone know whether the $15/month VCast plan from Verizon that allows unlimited Broadband EVDO internet access from your phone cover all charges associated with using it as a modem too? Is anyone doing this that mighht have some insights?

I have gotten four different responses from four different Verizon reps.

I just went to verizon this past weekend in NYC...they said there will be a software update soon, im guessing this update will fix the play button on the front and actually get the mp3 player working 🙂

It's 15$/month for the VCAST thing...but if you want high speed internet access (EV-DO i think it is) that costs extra? In addition to your 15$ VCAST and service charge?

Im looking on the net now and seeing the VX8000 go for 79.00. Is it safe to order a phone over the net? Does it come ready to use? Or do i got to take it to a dealer to program it? Also is there a place i can buy this phone and the date link usb thingy for the same price? I want to put MP3s on it. But im a lil worried about how u hack it to get it on. Will this so called firmwear upgrade fix that? and if so when is this firmwear upgrade coming out? TY for your time.

im having trouble getting songs on 8000.when i send them to my phone it gives me an error message that says "failed to play message".is there anyone that can tell me what im doing wrong?

i saw this before, when you in to the serecet menu
and press *, and the phone prompts you for the MMS code does anyone know what it is.

Does anyone know where to get faceplates for this phone? Is there a way to change the whole housing on the phone?

After reading most of the posts here as well, most (if not all) people feel that anyone considering buying the 8000 to hold off and wait for the 8001 - and those that recently spent $300 - $400 for the 8000 now wish they had waited for the 8001.

Here's my question:

I will be a new Verizon customer shortly (just waiting for my wife's Cingular contract to expire) - in a month or so I could probably get the 8000 for about $80 (perhaps lower once the 8001 is released) - or being a new customer and when the 8001 is released it will probably be offered (I would imagine) for about $200 - $250 (for new customers). Therefore, based on that scenerio which phone should be my first choice?

When you're talking on the phone, and you get a text message you must choose "view now" or "view later". If you just ignore it and dont pick one then it beeps VERY loud right into your ear, or vibrates on the side of your head! Its crazy, haha

I canceled the stupid Vcast $15 bundle pack. Since then I can't make EVDO calls with any application (GIN, Mobile Web, USB, etc...) I can use all of these if I leave the DO range and fallback to 1X, but when the phone is in DO coverage no data apps work.

Anyone else seeing this?

Is it free to send a picture to Pix Place from your phone? Or does it deduct from the monthly allowance? (for me- 20 pix messages for 2.99)

Zume is a nice little game, my wife and I play it a lot. But I found it locks up my Vx8000 pretty frequently - it happened 3 times yesterday; but it never happens to my wife's Samsung A890. Is anyone aware of this kind of problem?

I know there is a thread like this already but i was wondering..I have not revieved the 8000 yet although i am going to but just a thought, if the phone has a side speakerphone button has anyone tried holding that while recieving an incoming call to keep the phone closed? If not can someone try for me and let me know? Thank you

so far ive uploaded 14 mp3 ringtones that last approximately 30 seconds and are at 56-64 kbps. now when i tried to upload another sound byte. i get a message that says "memory full", with a little "gas tank like gauge" picture. now the application memory says it is at 8% full, and the contents memory says 0% full. is something wacky going on with my phone, does the application or content memories relate at all to the memory of ringtones you can store on the 8000 or am i at my capacity at 14? thanks Luis

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong when I try to upload .mp3 files and videos to my 8000 I get this error everytime.

"An error occurred while trying to set the creation date of the file 'brew/media/50 cent feat Olivia-Candy Shop_150kbps_10fps-32aac_h263-DL.3gp'. The file was copied sucessfully, however the creation date may not be accurate.

Error Code (126):Unknown Error

I get this error everytime I try to upload a whole .mp3 song or a video.

I followed the directions that were given in the HowardForum but I am only able to get the ringtones to work.

Any help that you guys can offer would be appreciated..Thanx
