I have searched the forum and noted some early discussion, but no resolution to the question of real life battery time. My V3 is 2 weeks old, already tried a new battery and I am still only getting 60-90 minutes of talk time and 24-36 hours of standby time, sure doesn't match the touted numbers. Does Bluetooth being on drain the batter 8-10x faster? I leave it on to use my car's bluetooth speakerphone. Looking for some experiences out there. Thanks.

Must be the Bluetooth. I have had my Razr over a month now and haven't gotten a Bluetooth headset yet and let me tell you the battery life is amazing.

Yes. On my V3, keeping the Bluetooh on DEFINITELY causes the battery to drain faster. I do not know about 8-10X, but it is very, very noticeable.
As a result, I set a shortcut to turn it off as soon as I leave the car.
Kinda strange - as I had an SET616 for months and the bluetooth did not appear to have any effect on power usage.

On my SE t637 BT seems to drain the battery at an accelerated rate only when it's either in "Visible" mode for an extended period, or when it's actually connected to a headset or other accessory. If I keep it in "Invisible" mode it doesn't seem to drain the battery.
Is it me or "Invisible" mode merely a BT monitor? It only appears in BT mode to devices that have been paired with it when it's in this mode. It would stand to reason that when it's "Invisible" that it's not actually transmitting a BT signal, just monitoring in case it recieves a signal from one of the devices on its list. That would explain the low/no battery drain.

Good points. It does seem to me that BT should drain battery life, but I was starting to see 24-36 hour standby times and 30-60 min talk times. I also have the SE t637, and found that I was able to get 2-3 days of use with BT on, I didn't see the option to make invisible, or otherwise. More importantly, I don't think the V3 has that option. It is either ON or OFF.
In followup, I did stop by the store and pick up a new one, they too felt it was unusual. I will update the forum after a few days and charge cycles to see if it is any better. Thanks for everyone's input.

Incidentally I've checked out the v551 as well, similar feature list and software to the V3. It does seem that there isn't a way to "hide" the phone while BT is on. It doesn't sound normal, but I got similar battery numbers while checkin out the v551 to the numbers you're quoting with the V3. Could just be Moto's implementation of BT (which I've not liked yet).

I am relatively sure it is a "feature" of the Moto bluetooth implementation.
After seeing how it works on Nokia and Ericsson, the power consumption difference is obvious.
I rarely turned off BT when I had the Nokia 6239 or the SET616 and the battery would still last for days.
If I accidentally neglect to turn off the BT on my V3, I am lucky if I get 2 days.

I must be lucky with the V3 I have, because I leave BT permanently turned on and my batter lasts for THREE days. I also talk on the phone quite often. Also, it is important that on your initial charge you let the phone completely charge for 16 - 20 hrs. (whatever the manual says) before using the phone. It is a LiION battery, so it is not necessary to do a full charge/discharge, but the initial charge is important. If you are really experienced terrible battery life, I would recommend purchasing a new battery as it is highly probable that the battery is damaged and not the phone.

Wanted to get back to everyone. First, thanks for everyone's help.
I tried a new battery, still not having great life. The store swapped it out with a brand new V3, and it seemed to work much better. Of note, with the first two charges, I let it charge 14 hours or so, completely discharge, etc.
Here is my experiment, leaving the BT off and shortcutting it on and off when getting in my car, I got 120-180 minutes talk time with 72-100 hours standby. If I leave BT on continuously, I am lucky to get 60-90 minutes talk time with 30-36 hours standby time. So, at least that tells me that BT is a significant drain the way it it set up. Hope that helps anyone else.
