Is there any way to boost the Volume?
The highest level (7) is just fair at best.

Yes there is, but it requires a USB cable. You can edit the gain_table.bin using motorola-tool, p2kman or p2ktools...

I've got a USB cable.
If it's not too much trouble, could you spell out what I need to do?

Many thanks for the quick response.

Download p2kman and motorola-tool. Use p2kman to download gain_table.bin from your phone, use motorola-tool to edit the gain table, and use p2kman to upload gain_table.bin back to your phone.

Some simple searches around www.howardforums.com or google will help you find more info and where to download these programs...

This works extremely well as all volume settings have a range of 0-8 and are intially set to 1 (System Tones are intially set to 😎. You can independently adjust the Earpiece, Keypad, Speakerphone, Ringtone, and System Tone gain. I set my Earpiece to 4 and Speakerphone to 3, and System Tones to 1.

This takes under 5 minutes once the software is installed...

I downloaded a zip file with the software but it did not automatically launch. The software did not recognize my phone also. Any ideas?

I asked a cingular rep about the software and he recommended I not try to alter the phone volume. He said it may cause the phone to have poorer reseption. Any truth to this?

thanks all.

The Cingular rep doesn't know what he's talking about (big surprise). You got the p2kman software, unzipped it into a directory, connect your V3 to your PC via a USB cable, and it didn't recognized the phone?

When connect the phone, the PC should recognized it as new hardware and install the V3 as a modem. It may ask for a drive, in which case there's a drv directo...
